Anlässlich einer Ausstellung über fürstliche Moden und ihre Darstellung in der Porträtmalerei von der Renaissance bis zum Rokoko werfen namhafte Expert*innen einen Blick auf das Zusammenspiel von Politik, Macht und Mode. Sie gehen der (Ver-)Formung des Körpers nach, stellen Fragen zur Beschaffenheit und Pflege kostbarer Stoffe und spüren frühen Modeikonen wie der englischen Königin Elisabeth I. nach. In seinem Essay gewährt der Modeschöpfer Christian Lacroix einfühlsamen Einblick in seine ganz persönlichen Begegnungen mit historischen Moden. Das übergroße Format, die außergewöhnliche Gestaltung und stimmungsvolle Detailaufnahmen erlauben eine Reise durch die textilen Welten vergangener Zeiten. In einer eigenen Modestrecke werden nach Gemälden geschneiderte Gewänder zum Leben erweckt und zeitgenössisch in Szene gesetzt.

VERONIKA SANDBICHLER (*1967) ist Kunsthistorikerin und seit 2010 Direktorin von Schloss Ambras Innsbruck.

KATJA SCHMITZ-VON LEDEBUR (*1967) ist Kunst- und Textilhistorikerin, Kuratorin sowie stellvertretende Direktorin der Kaiserlichen Schatzkammer und Kunstkammer Wien.

STEFAN ZEISLER (*1971) ist Kreativdirektor des Kunsthistorischen Museums in Wien.
