Der ohne Age Statement zugänglich gemachte The Macallan Edition Nr.5 Single Malt Whisky soll die Farbintensität veranschaulichen, mit der sich die Destillerie The Macallan aus Schottland einen Namen gemacht hat. Sarah Burgess, die bei der Firma The Macallan für die Whiskyproduktion verantwortlich ist, bestätigt, dass die diesjährige Limited Edition ohne Farbstoffe wie Karamell zum Kunden kommt. Der relativ hohe Alkoholgehalt spricht ebenfalls für einen authentischen Genuss.
Aroma: Vanille und Toffee mit Eichennoten, Muskatnuss und Ingwer. Dazu Zitrusnoten, Basilikum und Birne.
Geschmack: Frisch und süß mit Karamell, Pfirsichkompott und reifen Birnen. Es folgen süße Karamellbonbons und Eichenwürze mit Muskatnuss und Ingwer.
Abgang: Lang und süß.
