Auf neuartige Weise zeigen die berühmten Rom-Ansichten von Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778) historische Bauten von der Antike bis zum Barock, die das Stadtbild Roms bis heute prägen: Perspektivisch und von der Lichtregie her eindrucksvoll in Szene gesetzt, lassen die Monumente etwas von der historischen Größe der ewigen Stadt spüren. In den locker skizzierten Staffagefiguren des Bildvordergrundes hat der Künstler zudem das quirlige Alltagsleben auf Straßen und Plätzen eingefangen. Piranesis Blätter wurden gerne als Souvenirs von gebildeten Romreisenden auf ihrer Grand Tour durch Europa erworben und erfreuen sich noch heute großer Beliebtheit. Abgebildet und ausführlich kommentiert werden 40 repräsentative Veduten der von 1746 bis 1778 entstandenen Folge, die über die Jahrzehnte auf 135 Blätter anwuchs. Die teils sehr frühen, seltenen Drucke stammen aus dem Bestand der Graphischen Sammlung des Augustinermuseums Freiburg. Ausstellung und Katalog entstanden in enger Kooperation mit dem Kunstgeschichtlichen Institut der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg.

I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.
