Grape varieties: Grüner Veltliner

Alcohol: 12,5%

Region: Weinviertel, Niederösterreich

Winemaker: Markus Sonntag, Enrico Bachechi und Claire Yuan

Grüner Veltliner and Weinviertel is a long-established duo found all over the region, but the ‘Sonntag Geschlossen’ wines challenge any preconception one might have. In Waitzendorf, at less than 10km from the Czech border, Markus ages his Grüner in large old oak casks, most of which were bought from his grandfather and assembled in the deep underground cellar in town. Ageing takes place on the full lees, which are stirred from time to time, resulting in a wine with texture, complexity, yet freshness and agility.

Sonntag Geschlossen Zusammen - Ausgabe Eins is a multivintage Grüner, resulting from the progressive blending of smaller quantities post bottling of all the Sonntag Geschlossen released until now. From 2011 to 2015, the individual nuances of the different years found time to harmonise in this 'Zusammen' edition. Richer years like 2012 and 2015, are lifted by fresher 2014 and find a nice balance overall displaying Markus' layered and developed style.

Read This In One Sitting…..
Format: Hardcover
Not pregnant yet, but this book was the perfect balance of information and real-life story. It was so relatable and reassuring—I suddenly didn’t feel crazy for all the hours of baby research I’ve been doing. I never felt pressured, just encouraged and entertained while learning so much. Such a refreshing read, you won’t regret getting this one!

Great Buy for First-Time-Mama's
Format: Hardcover
This is my first pregnancy, and I'm very happy I purchased this book. Meghan Trainor will make you laugh and she gets very real with you—it was almost as if I was hanging out with an old friend when I sat down to read. It's a mix of a memoir, a diary, and advice from experts including her personal trainer and her OB/GYN—including exercises by trimester and recipes. She also recommends some products without being sales-y. If you're a first-time-mom (or even if you're not), this is a great buy that's not like other pregnancy books (those can sometimes be information overload in my opinion). This would also be a great gift for a newly pregnant friend. You don't have to be a Meghan Trainor fan to enjoy this book. Book Highlights/Helpful Thoughts - One of my favorite phrases was "influencers are great, but they make pregnancy and labor an aesthetic, and girl, pregnancy is not an aesthetic, it's rough!" - Meghan wanted to give birth vaginally, but due to complications, she had to have a schedule C-Section and she talks about that experience extensively is a way that was helpful. I'm personally doing everything I can to have a natural vaginal birth, but life sometimes has other plans. It was helpful reading her take instead of reading the Reddit horror stories. I now know what to expect in a non-traumatizing way if I were to need a C-section. - Meghan was pregnant during the height of the Covid Pandemic in 2020—so her experiences are based on that. I say this, because she talks a lot about how her husband could not join in at any of her ultrasound appointments and her labor team was limited due to the restrictions. Thankfully appointments are no longer like that.
