Carved in a timeless amphora shape with flowing curves and rounded proportions, this decorative object offers a bold yet graceful presence. The sand-colored finish enhances its sculptural form, while the solid construction gives it a monumental quality. Although not functional as a vessel, its silhouette recalls classic wine containers and enriches any space with historical depth.

HISTORIC PROVENANCE

This design takes inspiration from a 7th-century Chinese wine container at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. While the form of the Museum’s vessel echoes the shape of Greco-Roman amphoras and its animal-headed handles draw from Persian and Central Asian traditions, the original piece is grounded in Chinese artistry, embodying the cosmopolitan spirit of the Tang dynasty (618–907). This fusion of styles is reimagined here in stone-like serenity.
