The SLR Magic 62mm Solid Neutral Density 1.2 Image Enhancer Filter is an ultraviolet and infrared control filter with a 16x filter factor that provides a 4-stop exposure reduction. It is useful for digital cinematography as well as still photography. While recording video with a CCD or CMOS camera, multi-stop neutral-density filters are frequently used to maintain proper exposure by compensating for increased light levels when widening the camera lens's iris to obtain a narrower depth of field. As the increased amount of light passes through multi-stop, neutral-density filtration, visible light is progressively blocked, while infrared light is allowed to pass through. As the proportion of infrared light that reaches the digital camera sensor becomes greater, the results can show unwanted color shifts, particularly in dark areas of the frame such as shadows, where the appearance of black is dominant.

When the SLR Magic 62mm Solid Neutral Density 1.2 Image Enhancer Filter is applied, ultraviolet light waves along with infrared light waves are suppressed, helping to ensure that light falling on a digital camera sensor is limited to the visible spectrum. Its own 1.2 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture with this filter, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily within a range of 4 stops without the need for additional neutral-density filters.

This filter's optical design also allows it to be used on top of a separately available SLR Magic Self-Locking Variable Neutral Density 0.4 to 1.8 Filter that features 62mm front filter threads. Together, that filter combination can provide a 5.3 to 10-stop exposure reduction without visible cross patterns when rotating the variable neutral density filter's front ring to adjust the amount of density applied by the filter combination. When used alone or along with an SLR Magic multi-stop, neutral-density filter while recording with a digital sensor, potential infrared color shifts are prevented or minimized, preserving color accuracy throughout the frame. This filter may also be used to help ensure that the appearance of unwanted blue casts is reduced while recording digital video or still photos under daylight that also features intense ultraviolet light.

The front and rear surfaces of an SLR Magic 62mm Solid Neutral Density 1.2 Image Enhancer Filter include interference coatings that allow the filter to limit the light that falls on a digital camera sensor to the visible spectrum. A nano coating offers protection to the filter substrate, and results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and features an aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight.

Suppresses ultraviolet light waves, reducing bluish cast of daylight when recording video or still photos.
Useful with CCD or CMOS sensors to filter out infrared light pollution that cause color shifts frequently associated with high-definition recording with multi-stop neutral-density filters.
1.2 neutral density filter effect darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a 4-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Favorite Hebrew Reference Book
Format: Hardcover
This is the Hebrew grammar that I use the most often. While I also use Williams and Arnold and Choi, this grammar is more comprehensive, and its size certainly reflects this. It probably betrays my inclination towards the exactness of Greek to like this grammar so much. As my Hebrew professor often tells us, all these grammar categories are contrived to some extent, so at some point it isn't helpful anymore to go further in depth on the uses of the so-called "cases." All in all, I usually find it easy to locate the grammatical point in which I am interested, though sometimes I have to resort to looking up every instance a Hebrew particle occurs throughout the book. For this looking up of various nuances of a particle, I sometimes find Williams more user friendly. Nevertheless, Waltke and O'Connor's volume has been my resource of choice.

If you are a serious student of Hebrew this is the only way to go. The book explains how the language is built from the ground up. If you are like me you have found learning Hebrew challenging (that's a joke). I have tried learning vocabulary, rote memorization, even coming up with silly English sentences to help me remember words (The goddess "Hera" is quick) (sad, I know). This tool is essential approaching the language from the building block side of things and I am now able to look at the prayer book and recognize forms and tenses I never understood before. It is for the serious student who REALLY wants to learn the language.

Can't do Without
Format: Hardcover
I have been a fan of Gesenius for a long time. While I knew there was updated information to consider, I thought his text was enough. But although his text is certainly still necessary, and necessarily covers issues that the book reviewed here does not, it is clear that one must turn to Waltke & O'Connor to reach a greater level of accuracy. Writing so long after Gesenius, they have presented new and accurate information based on the latest research, not only of Ancient Hebrew, but also based on cognate Semitic languages. I have found the sections on Hebrew verbs the most enlightening and correcting, e.g., that the Pi'el stem is NOT intensive. Such intenseness must be detected from a combination of the lexical verb meaning, the stem, and the text/co-text. This book also presents other up-to-date information on the forming of nouns from verbs, etc. As others have noted, the layout and presentation is great. It really can't be presented any easier, I don't think. One must read Gesenius, for he presents very important information across the board, including much on phonology and linguistics not covered by Waltke & O'Connor. But to stick with Gesenius will leave one in error on some points. Waltke & O'Connor, simply put, make the corrections and make studying Biblical Hebrew exciting, and even much easier to learn.

Best Of The Best
Format: Hardcover
This is the best book I've ever yet read on Hebrew Syntax as was used in the Tanakh. You can't go wrong with this, even though at times, the English-language linguistical jargon may give you a headache, the authors were quick to point out that Hebrew cannot really be clearly defined with English Grammar terminology. But it's format is easy on the eyes. You will often find yourself flipping back a page or two at a list or chart, for whatever they're explaining, but I don't understand how you could have a problem with that. I first saw this at the Portland City Library in PDX, Oregon, and vowed to myself I was going to buy it, no matter what the cost. It's worth it's weight in pure platinum..!

Hard to Beat
Format: Hardcover
Waltke's grammar is about as good as it gets with Hebrew Grammars. Considering the subject matter and its scope one has to expect a monolith like this 700pg jumbo sized monster. But this isn't just some pedantic and wordy school book, it is accessible (assuming that the reader has a basic understanding of Hebrew already), rich with Biblical examples, and comprehensive (at least as far as a grammar can be). This book has set a standard for Hebrew Grammars and is a must for the serious Hebrew student.
