Here's what happens:

You show someone a credit card, explaining that the best pickpockets don't take your wallet. They take only what's inside. You demonstrate this by giving them your credit card, and ask the spectator (or spectators) to remember the numbers on the card. You then have the spectator securely sandwich it in their hands, so that nobody could get to it.

You then bring out an ordinary marker shown freely on all sides.
