This charming narrative painting features an array of details for us to explore, from the patterns of the rugs and walls, to the curtains and objects on the walls and the tiled stove with a fire.
A family of adults and young children are sat by a table laid out with drinks. They appear to have a song book in their hand, as they listen and sing to the music played by the musician with the accordion at the right foreground of the painting.
The artist has used a Naïve style, infusing the painting with an aura of playful charm as well as rich colours. There is sincerity to its simplicity, making it an enjoyable piece to slowly take in and explore with its wonderful array of details and uplifting feel.
This oil on board is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner gilt border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffs on its gilt border.
