Takara Tomy revives a “lost dream” with Missing Link C-13 Grimlock (Anime Type), a newly engineered Dinobot leader packed with classic play value

Takara Tomy continues the virtual “what-if reissue” concept with Transfomers Missing Link C-13 Grimlock (Anime Type) Action Figure, the 13th entry in the Missing Link series—where “lost dreams” link across time. As the commander of the fearsome Dinobot squad, Grimlock returns in a completely new design that captures the spirit of the 1985 original while adding modernized articulation and display options. This Anime Type edition recreates the character’s anime setting color scheme for a screen-inspired shelf presence.

Grimlock transforms from a mechanical T-Rex into robot mode, maintaining the satisfying heft of classic construction with the use of die-cast elements, while significantly improving poseability in both forms. Articulated joints throughout the body allow expressive stances—whether you prefer a roaring dinosaur display or an action-ready robot mode with weapons drawn.

This C-13 release features specific differences from C-12: the emblem placement varies, so the robot chest has been re-sculpted to match. The included weapon set is also tailored for the anime look. The Saber is a sharp, hard-plastic red type inspired by vintage toys and overseas comic imagery, while the handheld Double Laser Gun comes in an anime-style two-tone color. The Missile Launcher follows the same color direction, and its missiles are removable for imaginative play and display variation.

For extra diorama potential, a human worker-type figure (the same type included with C-05 Sunstreaker) is also included and can be seated inside by opening the cockpit hatch on Grimlock’s back. Collectors will also appreciate the classic gimmick: apply the included secret emblem, warm it with your finger, and the faction mark appears. The figure additionally features a stand joint hole on the back (for separately sold stands), making it easy to display dynamic airborne or action poses. Completing the package, the box uses newly drawn artwork inspired by the era, and a collection card is included.
