Outstanding and ultra rare vintage Jean Paul Gaultier ensemble from Fall/Winter 1984, shown here documented on the runway. See also the dress, museum held by The Met. This phenomenal set comes with both a dress and cape, both in soft charcoal grey wool. The dress fuses an ultra 1980s vibe with a nod to the silhouettes of the 1940s and 1950s. Part Bladerunner, part Equestrian, a fitted utilitarian upper with a mock neck and wide cut sleeves extends to a skirt that somehow resembles the shape of jodhpurs - wide cut in the hips, cutting back in an tapering around the legs for a little wiggle, with black shoestring lace up sides. Concealed button placket at bodice, with gunmetal disc button closure. Usable pocket at bust. Patch pockets at hips. At the backside, what appears to be a large pocket along the bum with two buttoned flap closure, is actually two usable pockets within. Padded, structured shoulder. If all of this wasn't enough - a double breasted, collared cape tops off the look. A total twofer- wear these two pieces together or on their own to maximize their potential. Both pieces are unlined.
