常滑焼の窯元、玉光陶園の朱泥藻掛け急須です。

常滑焼の代表的な原料である、朱泥の急須です。急須表面の模様は、藻掛けという常滑焼の伝統技法によるものです。海草の藻を急須表面に糸で巻き付け、焼成されることで、模様が形成されます。

 

常滑の朱泥は鉄分を含み、その鉄分がお茶のタンニンと結びつきます。朱泥急須でお茶を淹れると、お茶の苦味を和らげ、滑らかな味になりやすいです。

 

横手急須は緑茶向けに使われることが多いですが、中国茶や台湾茶を淹れるのにもお使いいただけます。

 

玉光陶園について

1961年創業の常滑焼の窯元です。玉光陶園で作られる急須は、全て手作りです。急須は蓋、注ぎ口、把手、胴体の4つで構成されます。玉光陶園では全ての部品を、職人がろくろ成形で作ります。

 

玉光陶園はろくろ成形の技術が高く、滑らかな曲線と、美しい造形の急須を作ります。細部まで丁寧に仕上げられた急須は、手ざわりが良いです

 

表面の削り作業や、蓋と胴体を精巧に合わせる工程も手作業です。蓋と胴体を合わせるための削り作業は、合計3回行われます。成形の時に1回、生地の乾燥後に1回、焼成後に1回、合計3回も削り作業をすることで、湯が漏れづらく、使いやすい急須が作られます。とても滑らかに湯を注ぐことが出来ます。

備考: 蓋と胴の間の密閉性は良好です。表面を滑らかにするため、削り作業をするので、表面に僅かな鉋(かんな)跡が残ることがあります。

 

常滑焼

常滑焼は、愛知県常滑市で作られる陶器です。中世における、日本最大の窯業産地であり、皿、碗、鉢などの日用品以外にも、甕や壺などの大型陶器も多く作られました。

 

江戸時代末期(西暦1858年頃)から、朱泥茶器や酒器も作られました。昭和中期(西暦1962)以降、朱泥向け電気窯の技術が確立されました。常滑の朱泥急須は、約1100℃で焼成されます。常滑泥土は1200~1300℃の高温になる薪窯より、やや低温の電気窯と相性が良い土です。

 

数百万年前、東海湖と呼ばれる湖の底にあった常滑地方には、急須向きの粒子が細かい粘土があります。常滑には高い成形技術や、「擦り合わせ」と呼ばれる急須の蓋と胴体を隙間なく合わせる技術など、急須作りに必要な技術が集積しています。日本最大の急須生産地です。

So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.

I’m a little disappointed.

I usually like Jillian West’s books but this one was missing a lot for me. The pregnancy didn’t come across as real. She’s on her feet for 12 hour days but is perfectly healthy at 8 months pregnant? Yet the week she moves in all of a sudden she’s not? She is planning on actually running during one of the plot buildups. But at 8 months pregnant that’s incredibly hard to do. The lack of breathing ability and lung space, the change in body center, mass, and gravity. All of it prohibits running, unless you’re an athlete this didn’t come off as at all realistic. I didn’t feel any connection with the alphas. There wasn’t any emotional connection. It could be because of the tense it was written in. But I didn’t get any deep feelings out of this. It came across as checking off boxes. Even the spicy scenes weren’t really believable for me. I wanted to see them fall for her, and it just kind of all fizzled. Even Bishop. One thing I did really like was the ending. I did not see it coming and I’m interested in reading book two because of it. But on the whole this book was mostly disappointing for me.
