Inspired by the French M47 trousers produced in the 1940s and 1950s. Made of cotton herringbone fabric with contrasting lining. Made to French military standards, complex process Stitches per inch 10-14. 

In 1955, the bulk of The Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam wore French made or inspired uniforms. The Model 1947 Field Uniform was the standard uniform worn by the troops of the State of Vietnam and the early ARVN. Local made variants of this uniform were also produced, but most were of direct French military manufacture. Post 1955, the use of these uniforms decreased, and examples of these in use are seen much less often.
