This is paint protection film, not vinyl, so it does two jobs at once. The color lives in the film while the 7.5mil (330um) TPU body takes the hits your clear coat would normally eat. Rock chips, light scratches, swirl marks, bug acid and UV all land on the film instead of your factory paint. You get the color change and a real shield for the panel underneath.
