DAC Box RS2 is based on the incredibly successful Pre Box RS2 Digital but without the preamp section, leaving just an audiophile stand-alone D/A converter. It uses the same excellent-sounding DAC chips (dual-mono) as the aforementioned and represents the perfect option for anyone looking for a modern DAC with a plethora of digital inputs and a fully balanced circuit board design.  The dual-mono configuration features the highest-class D/A converters from Sabre. ESS9038Q2M chips provide optimal price-to-performance among high-end designs so that DAC Box RS2 is within reach for most digital enthusiasts with no sacrifice to sonics. The dual DACs also benefit from their own dedicated signal path (separate signal paths for the left and right channels). Thanks to these converters, DAC Box RS2 supports up to 32bit/768kHz files in PCM and DSD formats (up to DSD512) via USB, supporting any digital file you can buy or stream. The fixed analog output can be switched between solid-state and tube, further setting this unit apart from the competition.

DAC Box RS2 has eight digital filters, one being the proprietary ‘optimal transients’ digital filter from the MQA creators. With these filters, the listener can customize the sound to suit their own preferences. It comes with full HW and SW support for MQA technology (Master Quality Authenticated). The USB input signal is processed by a powerful multi-core XMOS microcontroller with advanced Multi-Core RISC architecture. The CPLD MAX II (Complex Programmable Logic Device) Altera is used for re-clocking, which together with the XMOS microcontroller brings high-quality processing of both conventional digital information and MQA. For the ideal use of this technology, it is best to connect the DAC Box to our Stream Box S2 Ultra in conjunction with the TIDAL service. You can also enjoy MQA quality by linking it with our revolutionary CD transport (CD Box RS2 T), which can be connected to DAC Box RS2 with the reliable I²S differential bus via the HDMI connector.  A premium aluminum remote control is included in the package and DAC Box RS2 is available in a high-quality silver or black aluminum case. The sizeable display on the front shows all relevant information in a structured, easy-to-read manner. Navigating the menu is a snap, allowing for easy experimentation among settings. DAC Box RS2 is also Roon-ready for your convenience.

*Note: I2S ins/outs featured in our RS2 series (Pre Box RS2 Digital, DAC Box RS2, CD Box RS2 T) communicate with other Pro-Ject RS2 components only. They are not universal and will not function with other brands’ I2S-capable components.

A Reading of "The Last One"
Format: Paperback
This poem represents Merwin at his insidious best, the conversational tone of the poem slowly leading to something imminently and undefinably dark, doom-laden. The poem was originally published in "The Lice" a book of poems written in the French countryside where, Merwin says, "I felt at once a profound attraction to the rural world in which I was living and a disquieting recognition of the fragility and uncertainty of my relation to it." "The Last One" ominously conveys that disquiet.

I have many books by Mr Merwin and I like the Budhist mindset that shines through.
