Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental starting.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the drain/fill screws to empty the gear lube.
3. Remove the bolts connecting the lower unit (gearcase) to the upper section of the outboard.
4. Carefully lower the gearcase, disconnecting the shift shaft linkage if necessary.
5. Unbolt and remove the old water pump housing. Note the orientation of all parts as you disassemble.
6. Remove the old impeller, impeller key, wear plate, and any remaining gaskets or seals.
7. Thoroughly clean the driveshaft and all mating surfaces on the gearcase to ensure a proper seal.
8. Install the new gasket and wear plate. Place the new impeller key onto the flat spot on the driveshaft.
9. Apply a lubricant to the new insert cup and impeller, then slide the impeller onto the driveshaft while turning the shaft clockwise to correctly bend the vanes.
10. Install the new pump housing and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's recommended torque specification.
11. Carefully reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are properly aligned.
