Historic Map : Valentijn Map of Malaysia and Sumatra (Singapore), 1727, Vintage Wall ArtPossibly the most beautiful printed map of Malay ever made, this is a superb example of Francois Valentijn's 1726 map of Malaya (Malaysia and Singapore) and Sumatra. Oriented to the east, Valentijn's spectacular map covers from the Island of Junsalan (Penang Prince of Wales Island Pulu Pinang) south as far as the Straits of Sunda and west to Atsjien (Banda Aceh) at the western tip of Sumatra. It extends eastwards to the Anambas Islands and the Bangka

Possibly the most beautiful printed map of Malay ever made, this is a superb example of Francois Valentijn's 1726 map of Malaya (Malaysia and Singapore) and Sumatra. Oriented to the east, Valentijn's spectacular map covers from the Island of Junsalan (Penang / Prince of Wales Island / Pulu Pinang) south as far as the Straits of Sunda and west to Atsjien (Banda Aceh) at the western tip of Sumatra. It extends eastwards to the Anambas Islands and the Bangka-Belitung Islands. The cartographer identifies various polities as well as numerous coastal settlements and cities. Topography is rendered in profile and limited submarine detail is presented in the Strait of Malacca.

Valentijn's map is one of the first published to present a sophisticated treatment of Malays and Sumatra, and the model upon which most subsequent maps through the late 18th century were based. This is one of the earliest maps to expound upon the indigenous polities of Malaya. Valentijn identifies seven separate kingdoms within the peninsula. The presentation thus represents a major change in Malayan politics following the Dutch capture of Portuguese Malacca in 1606. The Dutch forged a peaceful arrangement with the Sultan of Johor, leading to a time of general peace and prosperity in the region. This prosperity, combined with the decline of the Sunnite of Aceh in northern Sumatra, allowed for the rapid development and expansion of smaller polities throughout the peninsula, These include Johor, Perak, Pahang, Patani, Kedah, and Ligor - the latter two of which, as noted here, fell under the sway of Siam. Valentijn moreover, has recorded some 80 place names in Malaya alone, and far more in Sumatra, far more than any predecessor had attempted.

This map was issued in Amsterdam in Francois Valentijn's 1726 Oud en nieuw Oost-Indien . It was published by Joannes van Braam and Gerard onder de Linden, whose names appear on the imprint. Today this important map is very scarce.

Huge, super soft, cozy pillow!
Size: Jumbo (25-Inch), Color: Sage
This pillow is awesome! As a plus size person who can't sleep laying flat, the size and support level is perfect. This pillow is huge! The quality is very high, the stitching is precise, and the sage green material is soft and cozy. Great value for the price! I highly recommend this reading pillow!

MUST BUY Item for Breastfeeding Moms
Size: Standard (18-Inch), Color: Dark Grey
MUST GET item for breastfeeding moms. It is a soft pillow with a removable washable cover. The material is like a suede, which can make it hot to lean on if you typically feel hot when breastfeeding or sleeping. It allows you to sit up straight while in bed with great support.

It's perfect support.
Size: Extra Back Support (21-Inch), Color: Dark Grey
The best way to describe the super comfy reading pillow is super comfy. I use it to sit up while watching something soothing to my mind on tv and due to its comfyness and softness, it's perfectly just right for my back. The funny thing is within a few minutes I'm knocked out sleep, which is a good thing. It's soft but firm lumbar area and arms feels oh so comfortable. It gives the best sleep quality and less toss and turning. I highly recommend.

Great Size and Comfort
Size: Extra Back Support (21-Inch), Color: Dark Grey
2 months after buying a different reading pillow I felt it was time to buy a different one based on the comfort and support. I found this one listed for a good price. After carefully looking through the listing, I bought the 21" size. On my first night of usage, I was already impressed with the comfort and support vs the reading pillow I had bought 2 months prior. I like how this one has nice support for my neck and head as I'm relaxing on my bed with my laptop and phone. The texture of the filling gives it a very nice combination of cushioning and firmness. The horizontal feature line in the center of the pillow is a nice feature for back and neck support thanks to it giving the pillow some flexibility. As for the arms, their length, width, height, and cushioning are very good for resting my arm while I'm using the wireless mouse with my laptop.

Book Reading Wife Approved
Size: Standard (18-Inch), Color: Sage Green
I purchased this for my wife who reads quite a bit and she absolutely loves it. She said it feels soft, is the right size for her, and makes book reading more comfortable for her. I call it a win.
