One of the biggest challenges every overlander will face is how to fit all of their camping and recovery gear inside their vehicle. No matter how space efficient you are, there’s always something that is difficult or downright impossible to fit. The ModRack Top Platform is specifically designed to solve this problem.

The ModRack Top Platform features a 40” x 18” surface area for holding anything from coolers, to water jugs, charcoal bags, firewood, cassette toilets, and more. The sides of the top platform are designed with 26 different tie down points for straps, so you can fully secure your gear for the trail. 

What sets the ModRack Top Platform apart from other exterior storage options?

Security:

The ModRack Top Platform is secured to your spare tire with two ModRack Wedges and four brackets. Our ModRack Wedges feature our multi-international patented adjustment system that ensures full contact with tires ranging from 29” to 37”, guaranteeing the system won’t shift or wobble on rough terrain. The top platform brackets have 16 points of attachment to lock the platform into place and keep it secure and level, so you can rest assured that nothing will come loose on the trail.

That’s why we made a commitment to making quality our top priority, and manufacturing our products in the USA with top-quality materials and construction techniques. 

Our ModRack Top Platform and ModRack Wedges are made with durable aluminum construction with a black powder coat that provides added protection against rust and other forms of corrosion. It’s designed to stay secure on rough terrain, and will be a long-lasting addition to all your future adventures.

Large Surface Area:

Our ModRack Top Platform has a large 40” x 18” surface area for storing the large items you can’t fit inside your vehicle, such as your cassette toilet or cooler. This allows you to bring along all the gear you need for your adventure, and keep your gear accessible and organized while you’re on the road.

Ease-of-Use:

Our ModRack Top Platform is easy to assemble and install, and even easier to remove in the case of a flat tire or to be transferred to another vehicle. All assembly hardware is included, and our detailed instructions are available below.

What if I get a flat tire?

Once assembled, you do not need to disassemble it to remove it from your tire, simply release the ratchet strap and you can pull the top platform and wedges off as one unit.

After you’ve mounted your flat on your tire carrier, you can re-attach the wedges and top platform to your flat, simply adjusting the wedge slides and tightening the ratchet strap for a snug fit.

What if I’m in an area where theft is a concern?

No problem! If theft is a concern, a cable lock can be attached to the ModRack Top Platform and Wedges and then through your wheel.

What’s the weight limit on the ModRack Top Platform?

The weight limit depends on your tire carrier. The ModRack Top Platform and Wedges weigh in at only 21.2 lbs, so if you have a tire carrier with a weight limit of 250 lbs you would simply subtract 21.2 lbs and the weight of your tire to find your top weight limit.
