HISTORY ASPECTS:
Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 ZJ913, coded FM-G and nicknamed “Moggy,” serves with the Royal Air Force as part of the frontline multirole Typhoon force. As an FGR4 variant, the aircraft is capable of both air defense and precision ground attack, equipped with advanced radar, modern avionics, and a wide range of air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons. The Typhoon has become the backbone of RAF Quick Reaction Alert duties, regularly intercepting unidentified aircraft approaching UK airspace while remaining ready for expeditionary operations abroad.
ZJ913 has been part of this operational fleet during a period when Typhoons have seen extensive real-world use. RAF Typhoons have flown combat missions over Libya during Operation Ellamy, conducted strike and reconnaissance sorties against ISIS targets in Iraq and Syria under Operation Shader, and supported NATO air policing missions across Eastern Europe. Aircraft like ZJ913 rotate through these demanding roles, demonstrating the Typhoon’s flexibility as both a high-performance interceptor and a precision strike platform in modern conflicts.
In 2024, ZJ913 received a special D-Day Anniversary display scheme to commemorate the historic Allied landings in Normandy. The artwork pays tribute to the legacy of earlier RAF fighters that fought over Europe in 1944, linking the modern Typhoon to the heritage of aircraft such as the Spitfire, Hurricane, and Typhoon that supported the liberation of Western Europe. The commemorative livery transformed the jet into a flying memorial during airshows and public events, honoring the courage of those who took part in Operation Overlord while showcasing the RAF’s current frontline capability.
This 1:72 scale model combines modern combat aviation with historic remembrance, offering collectors a striking representation of today’s RAF set against the legacy of one of the most important operations in history.

Book for Churchill fans
Format: Hardcover
Not an introduction to Churchill but fills out a period of his life that is often overlooked. Some fascinating insights into people who visited Chartwell. I really enjoyed this book, but it's not for everyone.

An excellent addition to the library of books about the life of Churchill.
Format: Hardcover
Excellent story of Churchill's years in the wilderness, warning of the growing threat of Nazi Germany from 1932 to the early of the war. Thoroughly researched and well written, given the complexities of what was going on contemporaneously.

Just like the PBS series....
Format: Hardcover
This book is a step, or two, deeper into the 'wilderness years' than the PBS series by the same name. But frankly, the series, available on YouTube, is a better buy (it's free) for the money and quite entertaining due to its great casting with folks like Robert Hardy, Sian Phillips, and Eric Porter. But, if you're a reader, this book is worth the effort and cost.
