Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant this tall, sacred lotus is a wide (24-48 inches or wider), container using heavy loam soil. Dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil and place the lotus tuber in the soil. Cover all but the growth tips with soil. Gently add two or three inches of water over the soil and place your container where it will receive at least 8+ hours of sunlight daily. DO NOT FERTILIZE. In a week or two you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water, once these coin leaves turn to aerial leaves growing out of the water, you may fertilize your lotus plant.
How to fertilize your lotus plant
Simply press 4-6 fertilizer tabs one inch into the soil around the roots of the sacred lotus plant, being careful not to damage the roots.. Fertilize your sacred lotus once a month from June through September. These are the growing/blooming months. Always replace any evaporated water over the soil during the growing season.
