Overview of the SIG SAUER P226 Flush Fit Magazine | MAG-226-9-10

The SIG SAUER P226 10-Round 9mm Magazine (MAG-226-9-10) is the factory original replacement for one of the most respected duty pistols in law enforcement history. The flush-fit polymer baseplate sits even with the grip frame, keeping your draw snag-free whether the magazine rides in a duty pouch or a jacket pocket.

Compatibility

The MAG-226-9-10 is designed specifically for SIG SAUER P226 pistols chambered in 9mm Luger, including the standard P226, the P226X, and the P226XCA. It provides a flush fit across all P226 full-size, compact, and carry-size frames.

This magazine does not fit:

  • P226 variants chambered in .40 S&W or .357 SIG, which use a different magazine design
  • Any other SIG SAUER model family, including the P220, P229, P320, P365, and others
  • Third-party or aftermarket pistols, even if they appear visually similar to the P226

Always verify your pistol's model designation and chambering before ordering. The caliber marking on the barrel hood and the model number on the frame are the most reliable reference points.

Intended Users

Law enforcement officers who carry a SIG SAUER P226 as their duty weapon rely on this magazine to back up the round already in the chamber. A spare OEM magazine in a belt pouch means a fast, reliable reload that works every time, even under stress.

Military personnel and special operations units that have standardized on the P226 for decades use this magazine for training and operational readiness. Having several factory-original magazines on hand keeps training consistent and equipment ready for immediate use.

Civilian gun owners who chose the P226 for home defense or concealed carry (where permitted by state law) benefit from keeping one or two spare magazines loaded and ready. The 10-round capacity also suits shooters in states with magazine capacity restrictions.

Competitive shooters and range enthusiasts who take their P226 to the range regularly appreciate the peace of mind that comes with a factory OEM magazine that feeds flawlessly when the shot count matters.

Frequently Asked Questions about the P226 10-Round 9mm Magazine

Question 1: Does the MAG-226-9-10 fit all versions of the SIG SAUER P226?

This magazine fits the P226, P226X, and P226XCA chambered in 9mm Luger. It is not compatible with P226 variants chambered in .40 S&W or .357 SIG, as those calibers use a different magazine design. If you are unsure of your pistol's chambering, check the barrel or slide for the caliber marking before ordering.

Question 2: What is the difference between an OEM magazine and an aftermarket magazine?

An OEM magazine is built to the original equipment manufacturer's exact specifications, meaning it uses the same tolerances, materials, and geometry as the magazine your pistol shipped with from the factory. Aftermarket magazines are produced by third-party companies and may fit and function well, but manufacturing tolerances can vary. For duty use or defensive carry, most firearms instructors and armorers recommend OEM magazines to ensure maximum reliability when it matters most.

Question 3: What is the difference between a flush-fit magazine and an extended magazine?

A flush-fit magazine has a baseplate that sits even with the bottom of the pistol's grip when fully inserted, keeping the gun's overall profile as compact as possible. An extended magazine uses a baseplate or additional tube that projects below the grip, offering a larger grip surface and potentially more rounds, but a slightly larger package. For concealed carry, duty carry, and situations where a clean draw is critical, flush-fit magazines like the MAG-226-9-10 are generally preferred.

Question 4: How do I properly maintain my SIG SAUER P226 magazine?

To maintain your P226 magazine, press the baseplate release, slide the baseplate off, and remove the spring and follower for inspection. Wipe the inside of the magazine body, the follower, and the spring with a clean cloth to remove debris, carbon, and moisture. Apply a light coat of lubricant to the spring and follower if needed, and avoid submerging the magazine in solvents that can strip protective finishes. Periodic disassembly and cleaning is recommended, especially after range sessions in dusty or humid environments.

Question 5: Are there any state restrictions on purchasing or owning this magazine?

This magazine has a 10-round capacity, which is at or below the limit allowed in most states with capacity restrictions, including California's 10-round maximum. However, magazine laws vary by state, county, and city, and regulations change over time. It is your responsibility to verify compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws before purchasing or carrying this magazine. The Epson F170 has been ideal for getting started with sublimation. It's easy to use, prints vibrant and defined colors, and has allowed me to personalize various projects with excellent results. As a beginner, it has given me a lot of confidence to learn and create without complications. I definitely recommend it for anyone starting out in sublimation.

No returns and no support. If it doesn't work properly, too bad.
Style: Printer & Inks, Style: Printer & Inks
I was fairly happy with my Epson ET 2800, but was told that I'd get better colors with the F170. So I bit the bullet. The installation went smoothly and I was printing in short order. It was when I started printing items that had some dark gray that I noticed the problem. It was printing green. I contacted Epson tech support and they answered the phone almost immediately. (And how rare is that??) The woman I spoke with seemed to be familiar with the problem and advised me to modify the printer preferences and change the color correction from "ICM" to "No color correction". Well, it wasn't printing green anymore. Now the grays were brown. At this point, she ran out of ideas and gave me an email address for the second level of tech support and asked if I'd send a photo of the printed fabrics showing the problem. I did. That was over three weeks ago. I've sent a couple of followup emails, but they're ignoring me. But the best news was discovering that there are no returns on this product. I didn't think that was a thing with Amazon and I've never had any problems before. So now the 30-day return window is about to elapse and it appears that I'm stuck with an oversized doorstop. In the photo I'm including with this review, the fabric on the upper-left was printed with my Epson ET 2800. On the upper right, the F170 with ICM color correction. On the bottom, the F170 with no color correction.
