Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the spark plug wires and shift the engine into neutral.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase oil drain screw to empty the oil.
3. Remove the bolts connecting the lower unit (gearcase) to the upper driveshaft housing.
4. Carefully separate the lower unit from the outboard.
5. Unbolt and remove the water pump housing cover to expose the impeller.
6. Take note of the impeller vane direction, then remove the old impeller, woodruff key, wear plate, and gaskets.
7. Clean the mating surfaces of the pump housing and base thoroughly.
8. Install the new gasket and wear plate onto the driveshaft housing.
9. Insert the new shaft impeller key into the slot on the driveshaft.
10. Important: Lubricate the new impeller and the inside of the pump housing with silicone grease or dish soap (not included).
11. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, turning the shaft clockwise to help seat the vanes correctly inside the housing.
12. Reinstall the pump housing, tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque, and reattach the lower unit.
