Reproduction of Phalaenopsis by Cheri Blum
Cheri Blum — "Phalaenopsis". This work exemplifies a contemporary evolution within the tradition of botanical illustration, where the artist transcends mere representation to evoke a contemplative stillness. Blum’s approach aligns with the lineage of modernist botanical painting, particularly in its embrace of texture and tonal subtlety, yet diverges through its deliberate minimalism and focus on atmospheric resonance over precise detail. The composition is anchored by a centered, vertical axis that draws the eye upward through the elongated stem and blooming orchid, creating a sense of quiet aspiration. The use of a limited palette—dominated by cream and olive green—enhances the work’s meditative quality, while the visible texture of the paint surface suggests a tactile, almost tactile quality that invites close inspection. This textural depth, combined with the soft contrast and sparse line work, situates the piece within the broader context of post-minimalist abstraction, where the materiality of the medium becomes a primary subject. The work's significance lies not in its botanical accuracy but in its ability to capture the essence of the orchid as a symbol of quiet elegance and natural harmony. In this way, Blum’s Phalaenopsis transcends its subject to become a meditation on stillness, beauty, and the subtle interplay of light, color, and form. For more art by Cheri Blum click here.

My dog loves this toy! He gets to play fetch with it after his dinner, and looks forward to that time so much. Great construction!

Quality issues
The first one the squeaker did not work, the second one the seam on the wing had a fault so it didn’t not last more than an hour or two before it was taken away.

Tall Tails Fan
My Boston Terrier loves tall Tails toys. However, they do not seem to be lasting as long. However, I continue to purchase because she has to have their chipmunk to go to sleep nightly.
