Experience the captivating debut album wellwell by Tokyo-based indie band xiexie. Formed in January 2020, this four-piece ensemble blends indie pop, psychedelic pop, dream pop, and alternative rock to create a uniquely catchy and comfortable sound.
Since their debut single "da da," xiexie has consistently released tracks that combine international indie influences with catchy Japanese vocals, garnering a diverse fan base from youth audiences to indie music enthusiasts. Their dynamic performances have graced festivals like FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL's "ROOKIE A GO-GO" and "SYNCHRONICITY," and they've supported artists such as San Francisco's skateboarder/musician Tommy Guerrero.
Expanding their reach beyond Japan, xiexie has collaborated with Singapore's Subsonic Eye and Thailand's Door Plant, releasing the single "My Sunshine." Their first overseas performance in Taiwan included a successful headline show and an appearance at the "浪人祭" festival in Tainan. Their debut record XIEXIE / 33 has been featured in numerous record stores across Asia, attracting international audiences to their Tokyo performances.
wellwell showcases xiexie's signature psychedelic guitar riffs and Meari's captivating vocals, with tracks like "please me" and the rock 'n' roll-inspired "City." The ninth track, "kiwi," features guest keyboardist Ernest from Taiwan's notable band I'mdifficult (我是機車少女), highlighting xiexie's commitment to Asian collaborations. The album also includes dreamy and psychedelic new songs, as well as the acoustic dance tune "my time," offering a fresh dimension to xiexie's sound.
