It is only operational when the motor is running. Lowering the temperature of engine oil has many advantages, especially in air-cooled motors. One can stay out on the track longer, Oil temperatures will remain at a safe temperature, and probably one of the most important advantage is that the oil will retain better friction reducing properties during heavy use.
This HKS S Type Pro Oil Cooler Kit includes all the necessary parts so it can be installed into a Toyota GT-86, Scion FR-S, or Subaru BRZ. The kit has been designed to be future-proof as it will also work flawlessly with turbocharged or supercharged set ups.

Results: The oil temperature of a vehicle without the oil cooler reached 130 degrees in the fifth minute; the vehicle had to be stopped to cool the oil temperature down. The oil temperature of a vehicle with HKS Oil Cooler was maintained around 105 degrees through the test.
