"A gorgeous perfume with great intensity. The nose shows attractive berry characters, roses, violets, strawberry lollies, with red liquorice, dark chocolate, and meaty elements. A dense, ripe, fleshy Pinot with genuine concentration, richness on the mid-palate and dense, sinewy, dusty tannins that linger. Enjoyable wine with weight and balance" NZ Wine Rater, Sep 2021

"Beautifully ripe and perfumed, showing Black Doris plum, raspberry, mixed spice and floral aromas, it's juicy and flavoursome on the palate delivering excellent fruit intensity backed by fine texture and polished tannins. Upfront and highly appealing. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2021

"Hallmarks of the Wairarapa and Martinborough with a bouquet of silty mineral laden soils, dark berries and old strawberry compote. There’s also scents of moderate toasty barrel with vanilla and clove moments then a dark rose highlight. On the palate - youthful with a core of fruit and contrasting tannins, moderately firm textures and fine acid line with a fine silty soils and quietly savoury complexity. Well made, youthful and needing some cellar time. Great with food right now or best from late 2022 through 2028" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2021

"Moderately concentrated pinot noir with bright cherry, plum, smoky oak, anise and subtle fresh herb flavours. An appealing wine, with a nice balance of acidity with fruit sweetness. Accessible but should develop well in bottle. Excellent value" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Aug 2021

"Offering excellent value, the 2020 vintage (4.5*) was estate-grown at two sites (mostly young vines in the Blue Rock Vineyard), and oak-aged for 10 months. Bright ruby, it is mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with good density of berryish, plummy, spicy flavours, savoury notes adding complexity, and ripe, supple tannins. Well worth cellaring, it should break into full stride 2023+" Michael Cooper, Aug 2021

Vibrant ruby red with some solid, darker tones. The first sniff is greeted with plenty of Pinot personality and a heap of classic Martinborough Character! They love it when a Pinot smells of fruit, earth, mineral and savoury elements altogether, something they tend to achieve more often than not around these parts! Excellent silky, soft flow to the mouthfeel with plenty of fruity weight and texture, like the smell, the taste has fruit and spice and earth in equal measure. Nice finish, tasting savoury and earthy just like a good Martinborough Pinot should. This wine is delicious now but will no doubt gain greater level of delicious with a couple of years bottle age. Will drink nicely for many years to come.

As always, crafted using 100% Estate grown Pinot Noir harvested from both of their vineyards. Majority harvested from the younger vines growing on the clay/ limestone hillside of the Blue Rock Vineyard.

From the start of the 2019/2020 growing season things looked promising! Great, even budburst with only a few relatively minor frost events. They went into this critical part of the season in the best shape yet in terms of their organic regime, with full undervine cultivation completed along with extensive spring inter-row cropping to ensure the vines had the best possible start. Conditions through spring were relatively normal; plenty of wind, some rain but not too much! With a classic Martinborough North West/South West flow. Flowering was very successful and a good sized crop was on the cards! The ripening season was long and dry but not overly hot. If one had to make any complaint at all it may have been that it was perhaps a little too dry! As they practice dry farming there was definitely signs of water stress in the canopy across some of the blocks. Welcome rain arrived just after the start of harvest but in the main conditions for picking were excellent and they had the rare pleasure of picking exactly when they wanted too! They feel strongly that 2020 will go down in the books as a great vintage for Martinborough.

All fruit is de-stemmed and gently transferred into 6 ton open top temperature controlled stainless steel fermenters. The fruit is chilled down and held for a 5-6 day ‘cold soak’ to aid in colour and flavour extraction. Once the cooling is turned off the ferment begins as the fruit slowly comes up to ambient temperature. Once fermentation is in progress the ‘ferment’ is plunged twice daily. Temperature is closely monitored with a peak of around 30ºC allowed towards the end of the fermentation. Total maceration time was between 15–30 days before gentle pressing followed by oak maturation for 10 months. Bottled following minimal fining and gentle filtration. Contains no animal products.

Food Pairing: Very versatile food wise, they had a glass with crispy skin Snapper fillet and roast vegetable salad while they were mulling over this tasting note. Worked a treat.

Great tasting Propel Water
Flavor Name: Kiwi Strawberry, Size: 16.9 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
Great-tasting and refreshing Propel is one of my to go to drinks when I want something flavorful without being overly heavy like soda. The flavors are crisp and not too sweet, and its nice bonus knowing there are added vitamins. Perfect for on-the-go or after workout. I keep coming back to it.

Good beverage choice to mix your colonoscopy prep powder in.
Flavor Name: Kiwi Strawberry, Size: 16.9 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
In preparation for a colonoscopy I was allowed to mix the required prep powder in any flavored water beverage that replenishes electrolytes as long as the color was clear. I dislike water and am not good at drinking the daily minimum requirement. I had to find something I could tolerate especially with my having to drink 64 ounces in a matter of a few hours. So I started my Amazon search and based on the reviews, I purchased both the Propel Strawberry-Kiwi and the Melon flavors. I was taking a chance that at least one of the two flavors would work for me. The Strawberry-Kiwi albeit on the sweet side surprisingly tasted good after I added a ton of ice and made slushes. I really didn’t taste the Kiwi but the strawberry came through. The melon was less sweet but I did not get a real taste of melon flavor, just a hint. Since I only needed 64 ounces and each bottle is 16 oz, I only had to use 4 of the 24 bottles I purchased leaving me with 20. I’m going to continue making slushes but plan on adding fresh strawberries and melon to the mix and this way hopefully drink more while getting electrolytes. One Amazon review I read was by a couple who drank Propel daily and really felt sluggish if they skipped a day. I am hoping that by the end of consuming 20 bottles, I will also see a difference in my energy levels. The cost of Propel was extremely reasonable compared to like brands that in my opinion weren’t any different except for price. Even though Propel is sugar free, it does contain sucralose. As a I diabetic, I am not supposed to have any sugar substitutes other than stevia, but since sucralose is not one of the primary ingredients, and pretty far down the ingredient list, those 64 ounces I drank had a minimal (if any) effect on my blood sugar.
