From the bestselling author of Diary of an MP's Wife comes a beautiful discovery of Britain's great coastal path'A real achievement - unexpectedly moving with every beat and turn of its taut, precise prose' Rory Stewart'Beautifully written... a contemplative, Paul Theroux-like exploration of our most stunning coastline' Daily Telegraph'Swire ingeniously evokes the landscapes, famous people who lived here and, especially, the flora and fauna' GuardianIn Edgeland, the political diarist Sasha Swire escapes the confines of Westminster to walk the northern stretch of the South West Coast Path. Starting at Minehead in Somerset, she follows the well-trodden path to Land's End in Cornwall, walking it in sections over a decade-long period, returning each year like a migratory bird.

The result is an immersive, beguiling and literary exploration of one of the most enigmatic, beautiful and popular coastlines on earth. It is also a contemplative and very personal response to a story about our English shore from pre-Celtic times to the present day; of the upheaval of rocks; of astonishing botany; of pilgrimage and customs; of the exploitation of resources and of dangers to come.

Swire identifies how important edges are to us as she walks, not only in how we see our world but in our attitude to it. She observes that the outside limits, the borders, the line where two surfaces of a solid meet actively, encourage not only flora and fauna but people to gather, create, generate resistance and build new ways of living and working.

She discovers that the path is not only a walk through Britain's windswept and wave-battered western fringes but a tale about how we and nature have, through extraordinary resilience and relentless spirit, learnt to tame the various forces that are stacked against us. That we live at the edge of the possible.

Great pillow
I absolutely love this pillow as it is very comfortable. The pillow is not too hard but not too soft. It is very well made and gives good support.

BEDGEAR Does It Again!
BEDGEAR used to make a kidney shaped pillow with a pretty firm memory foam type inside, and a gel cooled outside. It was an ABSOLUTE fave of mine for years. Since it died a number of years ago, and doesn’t appear to be made anymore, I’ve been in search of something just like it…or equally amazing in a different way…without luck. (I probably have 10 somewhat useless pillows in a closet to show for it.). So…long story short, I ended up back at BEDGEAR, and got the one that at least was the same color and of a similar construction as my old friend. And ya’ know what? It’s about as close to replicating that sleep experience as anything I’ve come across. Fairly firm, interior materials that don’t really move around, and a medium height that works well for me as a side sleeper. A very well constructed pillow too, that’ll last! Whether it’s this one (which I thought was very reasonably priced for a top quality item) or another one, BEDGEAR is a pillow manufacturer you should look into. Their products are a cut above.

Bed pillow
The best pillow for people who have a hard time choosing a pillow. Pricey but worth it. Love the way I can conform it to my liking.

Packaging for shipping = terrible. Pillow = 10 stars
The pillow is great; the shipping/packaging not so much. Normally Amazon warns me if an item is being shipped in manufactures packaging and gives me an option to choose to have it boxed in Amazon packaging; I was not given that warning or option for this item. I am honestly confused why anyone would think shipping a pillow in just its vinyl store packaging “dust” cover would be a good idea. The vinyl cover arrived fully damaged. Cuts from what look like a box cutter, the handle 1/2 torn off, the zipper was 1/2 unzipped… Thankfully the pillow was not damaged or this review would be much different; but honestly who ships a pillow of any price point in a 10mil vinyl dust cover? About the pillow. My young adult child has been using a Bedgear pillow for about 9 years…the same pillow actually. It has stayed in a waterproof pillow cover inside a pillowcase that gets washed weekly, and the pillow has held up great. Recently I noticed the pillow was being used without the 2 covers and had gotten something spilled on it. Since the pillow is spot clean only and the inner foam is not submersible in water I decided it was time for a new pillow. Their original model was the original Summit but since they toss and turn and then end up on their stomach we decided to try the Multi position this time. They have slept on the pillow for 3 nights now and seem extremely happy.
