The HO Omni MK.2 is the perfect waterski to bridge the gap from high-level beginner to intermediate, making it the closest ski in the HO range to being a do-it-all model. Bringing together elements from past Omni models and the Works models, the Omni has become a ski that will handle incredibly well underfoot with increased control in the turn. The traditional PU/Fibreglass construction gives the ski a softer, more predictable flex, so you have ease out of the turns and absorption across the wash. The updated rockerline (bringing it more in line with the Works 02), but with an increased emphasis on width, allows the ski to sit deeper in the turns and remove the flightiness of shallower rockers and concave, meaning you have more stable platforms throughout your cuts without sacrificing the acceleration you want out of the turns and across the wash. That increased concave depth and clean edge technology in the tail will increase water flow and give you constant speed and an almost rail-like feel across the wash. Wrapping up the Omni is a staple of the HO range, the Speedskin base, developed to reduce drag underfoot and increase speed so you can ski all day.

The HO Stance boot is designed for skiers chasing comfort, flexibility, and a bit more forgiveness. It features lateral flex zones for smooth side to side movement and easier entry, making it a great option for relaxed, responsive riding. The GAIA PVC-free foam liner gives you a snug yet comfy fit, while the Ultralite Base keeps the weight down without sacrificing strength. Dual lace zones let you tighten the upper and lower sections independently, so you can dial in the fit just how you like it. Finished with a universal hole pattern to suit most ski brand inserts, the Stance Boot is all about easy performance and dependable comfort.

Waterski Features

Rocker

  • 4-Stage Rockerline – A rockerline with two defined flat spots under the front foot and through the tail, with a continuous placement in the nose and behind your rear foot, allowing you to have greater stability across the wash and in the back of your turn without sacrificing acceleration.
  • Reduced Rocker Underfoot - Gives the skier a more stable platform to centre from and initiate their next move
  • High Rocker Tip - The increased rocker angle in the tip means earlier and more aggressive turn initiation, getting you through the turn tighter and faster.

Flex

  • Flex Rating(1=Soft, 10=Stiff) – 5/10

Core

  • PU Core – The most well-known core in waterskiing. A durable, slightly softer material, meaning you can ski for longer and not feel as tired while getting more flex into turns and less rebound crossing the wash.

Laminates

  • Fibreglass Laminates – The most forgiving top layer you can get is a simple fibreglass laminate that allows the ski to provide a comfortable flex and smooth arcing turn.

Shape

  • Hybrid Width - Essentially a mid-wide construction, sitting halfway between traditional and widebody skis. This creates natural and smooth instinctive turns, no matter what speed you want to ski at.
  • Larger Edge Bevel - shaped to increase stability and acceleration to get you from turn to turn faster
  • Clean Edge 3.0 Tail - A tapered edge from the base of the back foot to the tail reduces the ski's drag by around 50%

Concave

  • Deep Concave - Naturally creates stability while on edge and through your turns, balancing out the speed created by the clean edge technology to provide greater forgiveness.

My pick for Best YA from 2015
Format: Kindle
I don't usually like Westerns, but this historical novel reads like a racially diverse Little House on the Prairie. There's a touch of romance, but the most important relationship is the friendship between these two resourceful girls. The writing is superb with well developed characters, a fast pace and a fine sense of place and period (1849). Despite dealing with tough issues like murder, slavery and racism, it still manages to be a feel good story, appropriate for tweens as well as teens. The girl protagonists are 15 and 16 and the boys are a bit older. This debut tops my list of best YA from 2015 that I've read to date: http://blog.sarahlaurence.com/2015/12/best-ya-books-of-2015.html

Nice
Format: Kindle
There is some attempted sexual violence. Otherwise this is a good book for middle and high schoolers. Story of a Chinese American and African American girl on the run in the wild wild west.

... into YA Westerns and I have yet to be disappointed. Under a Painted Sky is a diverse
Format: Hardcover
Over the past year I have made a foray into YA Westerns and I have yet to be disappointed. Under a Painted Sky is a diverse, cultural infused tale of two girls, Our main character, Sam a Chinese, newly orphaned girl, teams up with Annamae (Andy), an African-America, runaway slave. Together they flee St. Joe, Missouri disguised as boys and begin on the Oregon Trail. They soon join three cowboys who help keep them safe and teach them how to survive. I think what I loved most about this book is how Lee was able to incorporate Sam's Chinese heritage and beliefs along with Andy's and intertwine all it beautifully into this richly told story. Sam's and Andy's friendship was also a highlight of the book. It caused for some great moments, some funny, many heartfelt, and I was glad to see such a positive example of female friendship in a YA novel. Although "girl disguised as boy" seem to be a common theme in YA westerns I did not mind it here and thought Sam's inner thoughts about the challenges of pretending to be a boy were hilarious. I think Lee struck the perfect balance between an adventure story, a coming of age tale, and portrait of what life could be like for minorities and females in the 1800s

A great BeeHive Award Winner!
Format: Kindle
This is a BeeHive Award winner for young adults! What a great read! It is a page turner, that's for sure. Two runaways--a slave and a Chinese girl--take to the trail West during the big Gold Rush. They meet up and join three young men traveling West to seek their fortunes. The catch? The girls are disguised as "boys!" The adventures begin! Fast paced book. Highly recommend it for young adults, but I really enjoyed it, too. Written well and in all situations, the characters were believable! I did make some predictions that, in fact, came true. Didn't ruin the story for me at all--only heightened my anticipation! Great read!

I absolutely loved everything about this story
Format: Kindle
I absolutely loved everything about this story. At first I was unsure of the time period, I've never been a huge western fan, but I'm so glad I picked this up. Not only were the historical details interesting, but the characters were timeless. Sammy was such a beautiful, courageous, complex main character, I couldn't help but root for her. The memories of her father and her connection to him through music was heartbreaking, and her heritage touched every facet of her life on the run. The family she formed with the cowboys and Andy was so genuine and real, and made me laugh in unexpected places. The action was fast paced and something was always happening, so it was hard to put down. Highly recommend this story for anyone who's a fan of adventure, strong female relationships, and romance. A++
