14K Gold Signature Victorian Coral Winged Angel Pendant with Diamonds

We started with a beautiful bas relief coral carving from the Victorian era that came as a loose piece—and we instantly envisioned it as a pendant with a gold bezel. The cherub is exquisitely carved in a high relief with a nice profile, flowing hair, and wings that emerge from behind the head. We chose a larger bail to accommodate a thick chain and to add a row of diamonds. The diamonds are bead set, and we added a nice black rhodium surface so that the diamonds would pop and have even more sparkle. The coral is a rich, deep red natural shade, most likely Sardinian. On the back you are able to see pits in the coral that indicate it is natural coral and suggest its ocean origins. 

The five natural diamonds are 1.6 mm each for a TCW of approximately .08 of a carat. They are G-H in color and SL2 in clarity. 

The pendant measures 3/4” x 5/8”, not including the 10 x 4 mm bail. It weighs 3.85 grams. Unmarked but acid tests as 14k gold. 

This piece would look good on a variety of chains. It is pictured here on our Vintage 14K Gold Segmented Collar Necklace. It would also look great on a longer chain or as part of a charm stack. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece that allows you to have a guardian angel.
