The Naniwa MV (Made in Vietnam) basic combination stone is a perfect budget entry-level stone for amateur and home users. This is the only Whetstone we carry that is made outside of Japan. Naniwa managed to reduce the cost by making this combination stone in Vietnam, but they supervise the final quality. It offers a coarse/medium combination for efficient sharpening. While not as fast as the Naniwa Professional (Chosera) series, it is a good starting point for beginners. This stone requires only 5 minutes of soaking and are produced in Vietnam under the supervision of Naniwa Japan.

How to use:

Pre-soak for 5 minutes before use, and apply water on surface during sharpening when needed. Rinse and wipe dry with a hand towel when done, and allow air dry at room temp. Do not leave in water.

How to clean:

If the stone’s performance is slowing down, or seems to be diminishing, you can clean using a rust eraser,  nagura stone, dressing stone, or a flattening plate. Be sure to clean the entire surface of the whetstone when using any of these methods to ensure even wear of the whetstone’s surface.
