A giant hand holds a stainless steel ice cream scoop, and it has just lifted a perfect ball of espresso flavoured ice cream from the desert floor. The sand, the rock, the cracked warm earth, it is all ice cream. Espresso flavour, specifically, because the colour is exactly right and the desert has always had that quality, rich, bitter, sun baked, ancient. The scoop is clean. The ball is perfect. In the crater left behind, the desert stretches away to distant mountains and at the base of it all, tiny and completely unbothered, camels stands in the heat.
