SVS Sound SB-1000 Pro Subwoofer at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The SB-1000 Pro is a compact sealed reference subwoofer from SVS (Youngstown, Ohio, USA), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. A breakthrough redesign of SVS's original entry-level model, the SB-1000 Pro incorporates technology from the 16-Ultra, 4000, 3000, and 2000 Pro Series into a cabinet measuring just 13.5 x 13 x 14.76 inches, powered by a Sledge STA-325D Class D MOSFET amplifier rated at 325 watts RMS and 820+ watts peak, and built around an all-new 12-inch high-excursion SVS driver with bass extension down to 20 Hz. Paired with a 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56-bit double-precision filtering and the full SVS Subwoofer Smartphone App, the SB-1000 Pro delivers reference-grade sealed subwoofer performance from the most compact footprint in the SVS lineup. Recognized with the EISA Best Buy Home Theatre Subwoofer Award 2021-2022, Sound and Vision Top Picks of the Year 2021, AVS Forum Top Choice 2021, and TONE Audio Exceptional Value Award 2021, the SB-1000 Pro stands as the benchmark for sealed subwoofer performance and value.

All-New 12-Inch High-Excursion Driver: Room-Shaking Bass in a 13-Inch Cabinet

The engineering challenge at the heart of the SB-1000 Pro was fitting a high-performance 12-inch driver into an acoustically inert cabinet barely larger than the driver itself. SVS met this challenge by designing a proprietary 12-inch driver with a dual ferrite Y30 magnet motor assembly featuring an extended aluminum pole piece for effortless on-demand driving force, and a 1.5-inch voice coil with six-layer high-purity copper windings in a dual-layer configuration for maximum linearity, minimum distortion, and effective thermal management. A lightweight treated fiber composite cone with exceptional stiffness-to-mass ratio delivers massive SPLs while maintaining fast transient start-stop precision, and a proprietary injection-molded NBR extreme-excursion surround ensures flawless pistonic motion across the driver's full 13.3mm Xmax and 26.9mm Xmech excursion range. A vented pole piece and efficient high-power voice coil provide optimized thermal management, ensuring consistent output during sustained high-level listening without impacting performance.

Sledge STA-325D Amplifier and 50 MHz Analog Devices DSP

Drawing on reference amplifier technology from the flagship SVS 16-Ultra Series, the Sledge STA-325D combines Class D efficiency with a fully discrete MOSFET output stage rated at 325 watts RMS and 820+ watts peak. A high-efficiency LLC resonant switch-mode power supply with 17A 650V MOSFET technology maximizes energy conversion and minimizes electromagnetic interference, and massive 34A 120V MOSFET output transistors maintain precise driver control at all output levels. The 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP applies 56-bit double-precision filtering with frequency response curves tuned specifically for the SB-1000 Pro sealed cabinet, enabling this compact subwoofer to deliver bass performance that directly challenges much larger and more expensive designs from competitors such as the Klipsch SPL-100, the Polk Audio HTS 10, and the Yamaha NS-SW300. Speaker-level stereo inputs further extend compatibility to legacy receivers and amplifiers without dedicated subwoofer preamp outputs.

SVS Subwoofer Smartphone App and Acoustically Inert Sealed Cabinet

The SVS Subwoofer Smartphone App brings the full DSP control suite of SVS's flagship models to the SB-1000 Pro, connecting via Bluetooth and supporting Apple iOS, Google Android, and Amazon Fire platforms. Volume, low-pass filter frequency and slope, phase, polarity, room gain compensation, and a three-band parametric equalizer with per-Hz frequency precision are all accessible from the listening position without leaving the seat. Three custom memory presets provide one-touch recall of optimized settings for movies, music, and gaming, and bidirectional feedback displays all adjustments in real time on both the app and the rear-panel Intelligent Control Interface. The sealed MDF cabinet features an extra-thick front baffle with rigid internal bracing and acoustic absorption to eliminate resonance at all drive levels, while custom iso-elastomer screw-in feet and a non-resonant ABS grille with fabric mesh complete a build quality that surpasses the price tier in every measurable way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the SVS SB-1000 Pro?

The SVS SB-1000 Pro is a sealed 12-inch subwoofer with bass extension to 20 Hz, powered by a 325-watt RMS Sledge STA-325D Class D MOSFET amplifier, and controlled by a 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56-bit filtering, all in a cabinet measuring just 13.5 x 13 x 14.76 inches. It is a complete redesign of the original SVS SB-1000, delivering the full SVS Subwoofer Smartphone App with three-band parametric EQ, speaker-level inputs, and amplifier technology from the flagship 16-Ultra Series at the brand's most accessible price point. The SB-1000 Pro received the EISA Best Buy Home Theatre Subwoofer Award 2021-2022 and is available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada.

How does the SVS SB-1000 Pro compare to the Klipsch SPL-100 and the Polk Audio HTS 10?

The SVS SB-1000 Pro delivers a meaningful advantage in driver size, amplifier power, and DSP control over both competitors. The Klipsch SPL-100 uses a 10-inch driver with 300 watts and no parametric EQ app, while the Polk Audio HTS 10 pairs a 10-inch driver with 200 watts but lacks smartphone-based DSP control. The SB-1000 Pro responds with a 12-inch high-excursion driver, 325 watts RMS and 820+ watts peak from a fully discrete MOSFET amplifier, a three-band parametric EQ via the free SVS app, and speaker-level inputs for legacy system compatibility. Its 20 Hz sealed extension and compact 13-inch cabinet make it a superior choice for both audiophile music listening and home theater use in Toronto and across Canada.

Is the SVS SB-1000 Pro suitable for a small room or apartment?

Yes, the SB-1000 Pro is one of the most room-friendly 12-inch subwoofers available. Its sealed cabinet measuring 13.5 x 13 x 14.76 inches fits easily on a shelf, in a cabinet, or in any tight corner, and weighs only 26 lbs for straightforward repositioning. The sealed design delivers tight, controlled bass that integrates more naturally in smaller spaces than larger ported designs, and SVS notes that small to medium rooms typically benefit from an additional 2 to 3 Hz of extension through room gain. The room gain compensation feature in the SVS app allows further optimization to prevent bass buildup in constrained listening environments.

What is the difference between the SVS SB-1000 Pro and the SVS SB-2000 Pro?

Both models use a sealed 12-inch SVS driver and a Class D MOSFET Sledge amplifier with the same SVS Subwoofer Smartphone App, but differ in amplifier power, cabinet volume, and price tier. The SB-1000 Pro is rated at 325 watts RMS in a cabinet under 14 inches across all dimensions, making it the ideal choice for smaller rooms, desktop systems, or secondary setups where space is limited. The SB-2000 Pro steps up to 550 watts RMS in a slightly larger 15-inch cube for greater headroom and deeper real-world output in medium to large rooms. The SB-1000 Pro also adds speaker-level inputs for legacy receiver compatibility, which the SB-2000 Pro does not include.

Does the SVS SB-1000 Pro work with older AV receivers that lack a subwoofer output?

Yes, the SB-1000 Pro includes speaker-level stereo inputs with 1 kOhm impedance, designed specifically for integration with legacy AV receivers and stereo amplifiers that do not provide a dedicated subwoofer line-level output. This makes the SB-1000 Pro compatible with a wider range of existing equipment than most competing subwoofers, which typically offer only RCA line-level inputs. The RCA unbalanced input with 16 kOhm impedance remains the preferred connection for modern AV receivers and preamplifiers, and both input types support the full SVS app DSP control suite.

What does the SVS Subwoofer App offer on the SB-1000 Pro?

The SVS Subwoofer App connects to the SB-1000 Pro via Bluetooth and is compatible with Apple iOS, Google Android, and Amazon Fire platforms. It provides full control of volume, low-pass filter frequency and slope, phase, polarity, room gain compensation, and a three-band parametric equalizer with per-Hz frequency precision, all from the listening position without leaving the seat. Three custom memory presets can be saved for one-touch recall across movies, music, and gaming. Bidirectional feedback ensures every adjustment appears simultaneously on both the app display and the rear-panel Intelligent Control Interface, confirming all changes at a glance.

Magnet is super strong but hooks are not adjustable
Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS, Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS
I ordered this set of Mutuactor magnetic hooks because I was tired of thinking I had things organized and then finding previously hung magnets have slid down the wall. It was a first for me to have to assemble a magnetic hook. This was made slightly more difficult by requiring a wrench. So many items these days arrive with a disposable little hex wrench or whatever is needed for assembly. Not in this case. Maybe the manufacturer assumes if you are spending $15 per magnet to hang your tools you have a wrench handy. Anyway, I got my wrench and found no instructions. I know from life that the order is bolt-washer-lock washer-nut. The next question arose when I found one bolt and several holes... hmmmm. It looks like they wanted to provide the option to screw the hooks directly to the wall. I am not sure the average person would pay that price just for a hook, though. I chose a hole and it seems to be the right one. The good news is I was quickly in business. Soon one magnet was snatched by my husband for his rolling tool cart. He hung his (very heavy) Sawzall and the magnet never moved. He liked the rubber coating that protects his tools. I chose to take advantage of the amazing grip of this thing to hang my most used (and also very heavy) all-clad pan from the side of my fridge. The refrigerator had some sort of glossy powder coat and magnets hold well if you try to pull them straight off but end up sliding down anyway. This is where I came to appreciate the rubber shoe of this magnet. It protects my fridge but I think it plays an essential part in the grip strength of the magnet. I can not slide it around - I need to use two hands to pull it off then place it in another position. To give a magnet strength example I had one magnetic hook on my desk as I was writing this review. My nearby desk-size scotch tape dispenser came sliding over and the magnet grabbed it. I was able to lift the tape dispense just by the magnet grabbing the little piece of metal serrated teeth that cut the tape. There is no other metal in my dispenser. That's it! In summary, four stars because it REALLY grips and holds a lot of weight. Minus a star because I do think they are a little expensive, they required assembly without tools or instructions, and the hooks themselves are not adjustable. I have some similar magnetic hooks and you can move the two prongs apart or together depending on what your tool size is. These prongs are strong and firm and are not moving and this cuts down of the number of uses a little bit.

Develop some quality, worth-while hangups!
Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS, Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS
Organization is key for any shop space. This goes double for smaller shops. If you look around and DON'T see something that could benefit from getting off the floor and onto a peg or hook, I applaud you! For the rest of us, where can we get started? Here you go. These hooks come two in a package. The quality of these are easy to see. The powder coating is very nice as powder coating is more durable than paint. The orange plastic coating on the hooks feels thick and durable. Assembly is easy. There's a threaded post sticking out of the black rubber coated magnet "puck" that you insert into a opening on the hook and secure with washers and a nut. I like that they included both a washer and locking washer. If it matters, I always stack the fastener in the following order: washer, locking washer, then nut. Using a 14mm socket, I was done in no time. How's much will these hooks hold? The magnetic power on these hooks feels substantial. When I slowly approached the side of my metal toolbox, the magnet made an audible snap when it magnetized to the side. It felt strong! The bend at the base of the hook added stability pressing against the toolbox but didn't mark the surface since it was covered by plastic. It held my heavy 50a extension cable and the other hook held both my 25' and 50' pressure washer hoses. Neither moved at all and felt very secure. Whether your shop is your garage or basement, making the most of your space makes a difference and these can help. These are very strong and hold items safely. I'm very happy having these around and will be getting more. If you have a metal surface that you can attach hooks, give these a try. It's a quality solution!

Awesome product!!!
Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS, Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS
Wow when they describe these magnets as “super string” they are not joking! Magnets are so strong you must be careful when placing them on your metal cabinet, lest it pinch your finger when the magnet grabs the metal! This is an awesome product. The hooks have a hole in their base that fits over a threaded post / bolt coming out of the center of the magnet and the kit comes with two washers, lock washers, and bolts to attach the hooks to the magnets. Takes about one minute per magnet to assemble. Once on the wall they feel like they will hold a lot of weight though I did not try to test the upper limit. No problem at all holding yard tools and the like. The hooks or arms have a nice rubberized coating and extend about 4.5” out from the wall. At $15 each these seemed a little pricy but wow what a great solution for hanging things on metal walls. They work so well I will be buying more of these! I actually have some other similar very strong round magnets made for a similar purpose … but they do not have the “built-in” hooks like these do and it makes a big difference for the usefulness! Considering all of that I think they are a great value. Item reviewed: MUTUACTOR Updated Super Strong Magnetic Hooks,40lbs, 2-pack
