Head dresses aka warrior bonnets for many Native American tribes considered the presentation of an eagle feather to be one of the highest marks of respect. An honored person must have earned their feathers through selfless acts of courage and honor. Or been giftted them in gratitude for their work of service to their community or nation. It is beyond disrespectful to wear a head dress if you are not native.
