Curly Katalox Wood SlabCurly Katalox is not actually a species, but simply a description of figure in the grain. Katalox (Swartzia spp.) heartwood is dark reddish brown to nearly black, sometimes with a strong purple hue. Sapwood is sharply demarcated and is pale yelllowish white. Grain is usually straight. Pieces with curly or wavy grain are not uncommon. Katalox has exceptional strength properties, and is among the very stiffest and strongest woods available worldwide.

Katalox has exceptional strength properties, and is among the very stiffest and strongest woods available worldwide. Katalox is considered difficult to work on account of its high density. The wood has a moderate to high blunting effect on cutters. Common uses include inlays, fine furniture and cabinetry, parquet flooring, guitars, turnings and other small specialty items. Slab measures 1-1/4" x 14-1/2" x 45" and has been surfaced on both sides.

The stickers that label the parts are impossible to remove and if you do get them off theres a lot of residue left behind.
