The carbon dioxide that industrial civilization spews into the atmosphere has dramatic consequences for life on Earth that extend beyond climate change. CO2 levels directly affect plant growth, in turn affecting any kind of life that depends on plants-in other words, everything.

Greenhouse Planet reveals the stakes of increased CO2 for plants, people, and ecosystems-from crop yields to seasonal allergies and from wildfires to biodiversity. The veteran plant biologist Lewis H. Ziska describes the importance of plants for food, medicine, and culture and explores the complex ways higher CO2 concentrations alter the systems on which humanity relies. He explains the science of how increased CO2 affects various plant species and addresses the politicization and disinformation surrounding these facts.

Ziska confronts the claim that "CO2 is plant food," a longtime conservative talking point. While not exactly false, it is deeply misleading. CO2 doesn't just make "good" plants grow; it makes all plants grow. It makes poison ivy more poisonous, kudzu more prolific, cheatgrass more flammable. CO2 stimulates some species more than others: weeds fare particularly well and become harder to control. Many crops grow more abundantly but also become less nutritious. And the further effects of climate change will be formidable.

Detailing essential science with wit and panache, Greenhouse Planet is an indispensable book for all readers interested in the ripple effects of increasing CO2.

Cheap Quality - 3 MONTH wait for warrantied repair!
Color: Black-Red/Digital/Black
About 40 days into my purchase, the watch starts doing a complete reset when I try to reset the timer, making me have to reset the date and time again. The Analog watch isn't any more reliable -- sometimes it will just stop temporarily and start again. I'll look at my watch and see the analog time, then realize it's 15 minutes behind actual time. So I called Timex for a warrantied repair. They told me I could send it in and it would take them about 3 MONTHS to repair it and get it back to me. 3 MONTHS, because they have to forward it to the Philippines for repair via the cheapest means possible. That is a ridiculous about of time to wait on a warrantied repair.

Looks great, but has issues
Color: Black-Red/Digital/Black
Great design, looks fantastic. Doesn't look too large, and the strap can be easily swapped for a nato strap if that's your preference. The negative display is quite readable and the indiglo works beautifully. Unfortunately, like many others, mine was prone to the reset bug. Using the chrono or timer modes would send the watch into a sort of boot loop for several minutes, after which it would be factory reset to 12:00 AM. This bug only seemed to affect the digital display and not the analog hands. If you never used these modes then you'd never have an issue, but these are necessary functions for me so that made the watch a no-go, sadly.

Disappointing in many ways
Color: Black-Red/Digital/Black
Bought this model twice. Digital display failed on both, the first within the return window, the second just after. Timex customer "service" said to ship it back for a repair estimate, pay for the repair, and then it would take up to three months once payment was made. I said thanks, but I'll leave a bad review and get a Casio sooner.
