The BENU Talisman collection seeks to immerse us in the realm of folklore, myth and legend and share with us elements and tokens that are believed to bring us positive things such as love, luck, protection or money.
When you first hear the word edelweiss, the majority of us will think of the song from the 1965 Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, the Sound of Music. However this BENU Talisman fountain pen is inspired by an edelweiss of a different kind, the small flowering variety often found at high altitudes on rocky mountains.
Belonging to the daisy or sunflower family, the edelweiss has a snowy white, star-shaped flower almost velvet to the touch. Traditional Swiss lore dictates that by gifting an edelweiss flower to a loved one you are showing your dedication which derives from the fact that the flower blooms in some of the toughest alpine conditions in the world. You could say this hardy, white flower doesn’t just bloom but thrives in these conditions.
Farmers have historically believed that the flower carries healing properties and have burned it as they believed the smoke could treat problems with their cows’ udders. The smoke has also been believed to drive away evil spirits from peoples’ homes and farms.

In order to really capture the essence of this talisman, BENU have created a stunning pen which has a black base adorned with heaps of glimmering white and silver resin and shimmering sparkles.
