- The Khamsa Hand (Arabic) or Hamesh Hand (Hebrew) is and old and still popular Amulet for Magical Protection from the Envious or Evil Eye. An alternative Islamic name for this Amulet is Hand of Fatima, in reference to the Daughter of Mohammed. An alternative Jewish name for is Hand of Miriam, in reference to the Sister of Moses and Aaron.
- The words Khamsa or Hamesh mean "5" and have a Sacred Value. The Hand is painted on the doors as symbol of Good Luck. The Hand is also a Talisman of Fertility. There is archaeological evidence to suggest that the protective use of Khamsa / Hamesh predates both Judaism and Islam, and that it refers to ancient Middle Eastern Goddess whose Hand wards off the Evil Eye.

Only holds towels in place when it is full or 1/2 full

If you are buying this for the feature of holding the paper towels in place so you can just rip one, I think you will be disappointed. Once the roll becomes smaller (and I tried changing the arm) the arm does not touch the towels. I do like the firm grip on the counter. My other dissatisfaction is the base gets water spots. Being near the sink this happens frequently. It does its job and is attractive.
