About the work

Gabriella Boyd’s lithograph, just as in her abstract and figurative paintings, invites us to draw connections between forms, symbols and brush marks.

Boyd’s edition, entitled Solution, portrays two figures seeping into their surroundings. The room, bathed in yellow liquid or evening light, takes on an anatomical glow which dissolves body and space. Boyd’s paintings often depict relationships between characters that seem to oscillate between generous acts and refusal or violence. Are we observing the administering of holistic care or combat, dance or ritual?

This soft liquid room is punctured by three dark scored marks; a cane or instrument on the table, a belt and a doorway. These objects cut through the pictorial space, whether symbolic violent acts or solid forms, keeping the scene from the point of disintegration.

The process of lithography demands a particular focus on layering of imagery and colour, where layers can accumulatively build or disrupt the narrative.

About the artist

Gabriella Boyd (born 1988, Glasgow) makes abstract and figurative paintings often concerned with ‘celebrating futile attempts at communication in human relations’. They often depict relationships between characters that seem to oscillate between generous acts and refusal or violence. A Must-Have Staple for all My Sublimation projects!
Number of Items: 6
This heat tape is an absolute essential in my workspace! I use it daily for sublimation projects and it never disappoints. It holds transfers securely in place during pressing without leaving any sticky residue behind. The tape is strong, heat-resistant, and easy to tear by hand — super convenient when you’re working quickly. I also love that it comes in a 6-pack, which lasts me a long time even with frequent use. If you do sublimation or heat transfer work, this is a must-have supply. Great quality and excellent value. I won’t press without it!
