This 2.2 Piston & Cylinder Set is designed to deliver 2200cc of engine displacement when used in conjunction with the original 76mm stroke crankshaft and stock connecting rods as fitted in all 1986-91 Volkswagen 2100cc water-boxers. No modifications to the original crankshaft or connecting rods are required.

Kit includes: (4) 2.2 pistons, wrist pins, clips, rings, cylinders, special solid copper head gaskets

Features: These GoWesty piston and cylinder sets (otherwise known as piston and liner sets) are identical to what we use in our own 2.2 liter engines. The pistons are custom made by Silv-O-Lite, and are simply the absolute best-quality pistons available anywhere. Cylinders are bored and honed using a GoWesty proprietary fixtures and techniques.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The engine block assembly (case) may need to be hand-machined for added clearance for the 2mm larger, 96mm piston at bottom dead center (BDC). The case is made from cast aluminum, and no two are exactly the same. There is no "blue print" or "program" to achieve this and it has to be done by hand by a very experienced and talented individual. The crankshaft/rod assembly, cylinder, and piston must be test-fitted repeatedly to ensure that the clearance is correct and adequate, while at the same time not going too far and maintaining the cleanliness required for any successful engine rebuild.

NOTE: This kit DOES NOT include installation instructions, and we will not provide technical support throughout the building process. If you do not have the tools, experience, and/or know-how to build a water boxer engine, please purchase one of our complete engines.

Core Charge

CORE CHARGE: $200. This kit is sold "exchange," which means that we need to get your old, rebuildable cylinders back. Please contact our customer service team at (888) 469-3789 or [email protected] to obtain a return authorization number prior to shipping your old cylinders to GoWesty.

Still going strong after three months of Doberman teeth!
Color: Green
This was one of the first toys I purchased for my adopted 4 year old Doberman Pinscher. It has been chewed, and chewed, and chewed some more. This is one of his 3 favorite toys when he has to go in his crate. As of yet there are no significant teeth marks, holes, or missing pieces. It is solid rubber, light weight compared to a similar toy he has, and just the right size to carry around in his mouth. He seems to enjoy the sensation the little rubber nubs have on his gums when he chews it. We have also used this toy to play tug of war and fetch for the same reasons listed but also because the neon green color is easy to see especially if the dog gets distracted and leaves it in the yard. When playing fetch the weight of the toy does not lead to rotator cuff surgery with repetitive throwing on the part of the dog's human! When it gets too dirty and slimy for my tolerance, it is easily washed in the laundry room sink with dish detergent and a sponge always returning to its Spic n' Span original appearance. If and when he chews this one up, I will not hesitate to replace it. Top 3 Likes: -Sturdy, holds up to chewing, used as a crate toy as it poses no threat from dislodged pieces -Bright color aids in finding it outside -Comparatively lightweight, easy to throw, and easy to clean Top 3 Disikes: -Potentially an aggressive chewer could dismantle Only 1 dislike!

Maybe for XL breeds.
Color: Green
This pull toy is too heavy for my 49 lbs Foxhound/Beagle mix. The “beads” are very sharp, and he didn’t want to put it in his mouth to chew on or play tag. I don’t think he’s picked it up since the first time I gave it to him. Extra large dogs may love it, but it was just too large and heavy for my dog. He was very unhappy with it.
