The PP5050 Series, PowerPods for Power are a better option than bracket mounting. PowerPods provide a clean look for flush mounting with the advantage of a swivel base.
The trunion bracket that is supplied with most electronics is not optimal. PowerPods have the advantage of protecting the back of the electronics from harsh saltwater spray. Most manufacturers do an excellent job of protecting the face of the display from water intrusion with sealed rubber push buttons. The back is generally not waterproof. They are expecting you to flush mount it into the console or a NavPod. The PowerPod also protects the plastic connectors and wires from deterioration caused by long term exposure to UV.
PowerPods for Sail are for mounting on a flat surface. Perhaps under the dodger or aft end of the cockpit table especially on boats with dual wheels.
The Hi-Gloss Material
- NavPods are manufactured with a custom co-extruded acrylic capped ABS material. We use the absolute best UV resistant material that provides a very high gloss white finish that matches gel-coated fiberglass. The Gen3 enhancements now include a thicker gauge material that improves strength and provides for better structural rigidity.
The Waterproof Seal
- All NavPods are manufactured with a double gasket system providing an excellent watertight seal between the front and back of the NavPod for protection of your Marine Electronics. NavPods are made to withstand the harshest of wet offshore boating conditions. Gen3 enhancements include a thicker external silicone gasket with improved flush fit. The internal EPDM gasket is now 50% thicker and is not subject to "compression set" like many rubber compounds. This is important when you need to open the NavPod in the future to service your electronics.
The Nickel Chrome Plated Screws
- We use all stainless steel mounting hardware that is supplied with each NavPod. Large round head tamperproof screws have deeper sockets for the NavPod wrench for better holding ability when tightening than the previous screws. For Gen3 we provide nickel chrome-plated stainless steel tamperproof screws for security combined with a little bling!
The Manufacturing Process
- Heavy-gauge thermoforming is considered an art since many processes come into play. It all starts with the design and development of the tooling. We are fortunate to have experienced in-house design engineers who utilize CAD programs like Solidworks, Catia and AutoCad. Surfcam is used to interface with our CNC machining centers to produce quality tools with precision tolerances. We have re-designed and re-tooled all of the popular NavPods. We have reviewed all of the former products and selected the best design elements of each and incorporated them in every new Gen3 product.

Great Coffee Scale

Absolutely love this coffee scale! For starters it was so well packaged. It is definitely worth what you pay for it. It has a silicon removable mat that fits snugly over the top of the scale. That makes it easy to pop it off to clean if you spill on it. The scale responds instantly to changes in weight which helps to give you accurate pour over results every single time.
The scale also includes a built-in timer with a count-up or down control. It also has an auto shutoff but gives you plenty of time before it shuts off. There are multiple units to choose from when measuring. Overall just a really great scale and I'm so glad I purchased it!

in hopes this will help anyone else who bought this scale- this thing is super sensitive to vibrations. if your scale is getting off calibration for seemingly no reason, make sure the sides and the back aren’t touching anything else and that the bottom is on a flat surface and it will fix it entirely, trust me!! but aside from that, this scale works absolutely perfectly. it’s just the right size for my morning coffee, has great battery life, and is really straightforward to use. plus the silicone top makes it really easy to clean and looks nice on my countertop. the timer is super convenient for making coffee, this is an amazing scale for this price point

1 year review: Excellent coffee scale

I bought this about a year ago and have used it daily ever since.
The scale is easy to read, fast to update, and is precise. My previous coffee scale cracked from the repeated heating from my v60 carafe even with a silicone pad within 6 months. This scale has endured and I'm quite happy with it's durability.
It's accurate and precise enough I actually use it with my bread machine as well. It's a nice, low weight scale overall.
Cleaning is fairly easy, I just wipe down with a damp cloth. You can pull the silicone pad off and wash it more thoroughly if you want.
My only down side is that I find the batteries drain a little quickly. My normal kitchen scale can last years on a button battery, while I usually have to replace the batteries here every 6 months. I don't use the scale for more than 3-4 minutes at a time daily and once or twice a week a second time per day, and whether the battery life is due to the brightness of the display or the polling frequency of the scale, it's a minor enough quibble to not ding it's rating.
It's not a cheap scale, but it appears to be one of those "buy once for a long time" investments. If you're serious about coffee dosing and measuring your water for pour over, it's easy to recommend.

Excellent coffee scale!
Love this scale! The display is pleasing, high-contrast and very clear. It has a silicone cover, and there are zero gaps around the screen and buttons, so it's easily cleaned and I don't worry about damaging the internals with water or crumbs.
There is a tiny bit of float, typically less than a gram, and only occasionally. For example, I'll weigh out 19.3g of beans, seal the bag, and come back to 18.9g. It's minor enough and infrequent enough that it doesn't concern me at all.
The readout is quick and responsive, and I love the timer. At first it seems a little confusing to switch between counting up and counting down, but after doing it once I have no trouble with it even half-asleep. Just hold the units button, press it again to change between modes, and use power & tare to set minutes and seconds if counting down (use play/pause to confirm each setting). Takes less than 10 seconds.
Overall it's quick, accurate, and well-made. I love that it has a much smaller footprint than my old kitchen scale, and looks sleek on the counter. Perfect addition to my coffee station! I also highly recommend their gooseneck kettle if you're in the market ☕

Wobby? Fixable!

After a year and half of excellent performance, the platter became more and more wobbly but the readings were consistent. Finally, it was too wobbly and the readings were erratic. There was no obvious way to try to fix it and I couldn't find any help online. I wrote to Greater Goods customer service. While I was awaiting a reply I could barely see that there was a screw inside that appeared to connect to the back right behind the paper label. I pressed on the label, and it broke through to reveal...two screws! I tightened them both and my scale is back in action just like new! It's ready for years of upcoming service. If your unit starts to wobble, it's almost certainly fixable this way. Oh, and Urmila from customer service just reached out and I gave them the good news.
