AN EMPIRE REVIVAL ORMOLU MOUNTED FLAME MAHOGANY SECRATAIRE À ABATTANT, LATE 19TH CENTURY, the modern variegated black granite top with bull nose edge, above a frieze drawer centering a faux winged griffins modeled escutcheon flanked by scrolling acanthus and paterae detailed mounts, over a hinged fall front panel with escutcheon cast as cupids making offerings at altar and a central profile bust of Napoleon I wearing a crown of laurel leaves, within a wheat stalks entwined acorn and oak leaf wreath mount, opening to an interior with various pigeon holes, short drawers, and open spaces enclosing a hinged locking door compartment, flanked on exterior by bronze doré classical maiden bust topped hermes tapering to paired bronze feet, above torches en flambeaux centering doors with Roman goddess masks framed by palm fronds opening to a single shelf interior, raised on tapering square form legs.
