COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Mastering Public Relations Writing course. This program will equip you with the skills and knowledge to write with clarity, influence, and purpose across a variety of professional communication contexts. You will explore what writing means to you, what freewriting is, and how creative and functional writing differ yet complement one another. This course also examines how creativity and functionality combine in PR writing and how to write in ways that shape perception, inform audiences, and influence behaviours effectively.

This course begins with the foundations of becoming a better writer. You will explore how to make an ongoing commitment to your writing development, how to follow rules and guidelines for proper English, and how to avoid common grammatical myths that confuse writers. This section also examines how to choose the appropriate level of English for your audience, why awareness of changing usage and rules is important, and how to ensure technical accuracy through noun–pronoun agreement, subject–verb agreement, and simple, consistent punctuation.

You will then explore how to improve the structure and readability of your writing. This includes learning how to use proper word placement, how to apply parallel structure, and how to use simple language to enhance clarity. You will examine how to write naturally, how to write logically, and how to trim wordy phrases to maintain reader engagement. This section also explains how to write short sentences, avoid redundancies, and give preference to active voice while understanding the benefits of both active and passive constructions depending on context.

A further learning area focuses on word choice and stylistic precision, including how to use adjectives and adverbs sparingly, how to create word pictures that inspire readers, and how to use precise language to enhance credibility. You will also examine how to use strong words that convey confidence and clarity, how to avoid clichés and journalese, and how to steer away from loaded words that distort meaning. This section explores how to limit technical language, why you should avoid creating new words, and why foreign words should be used cautiously to avoid confusion or pretentiousness.

Another component highlights how to maintain authenticity in writing. You will explore why honest language is essential to public relations credibility, how to limit pretentious language, and how to ensure your writing reflects transparency and professionalism. This section also explains how writing ethically strengthens audience trust and supports long-term relationships between organisations and their stakeholders.

The course then examines bias-free communication, teaching you how to eliminate gender bias, how to avoid bias based on physical characteristics, and how to remove bias related to ethnicity, culture, or lifestyle. This component reinforces the importance of inclusive and respectful writing in PR practice, demonstrating how language choices shape perceptions of fairness, belonging, and representation.

A further learning area focuses on how to write to influence. You will explore how to craft messages that persuade, inform, and resonate with different audiences. This includes examining how PR writers use tone, structure, and clarity to support campaigns, media releases, stakeholder communication, speeches, and digital content. You will also explore how natural writing, simple language, and logical flow support stronger public relations outcomes.

By the end of this course, you will be able to write clearly and persuasively, apply grammar and style guidelines effectively, eliminate bias, choose strong and precise language, structure messages logically, maintain honesty and professionalism, and use PR writing strategies that enhance organisational reputation and influence.

Great product
Scent: Mango & Hibiscus, Size: 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Excellent product. It's very gentle on your hair, even if used in hard water. It's over priced though, and there isn't very much in the container.

Horrible packaging, not recommended
Scent: Mango & Hibiscus, Size: 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I didn’t see any positive or negative results, but main concern is packaging. Car board box is absolutely horrible idea for this kind of product, you will have zero control or idea how much you are going to poor to your hand, you can’t use refill bottles with pumps, because you have to shake it every time before use. Wouldn’t recommend to nobody, maybe it’s very healthy and good for hair but putting it in this box is terrible idea. Only good thing is smells okay, but they all smell good. And you can’t even return like this thing so waste of money. It spills everywhere, and if you drop or loose the cap you can’t even shake properly anymore.

Not effective and too little product
Scent: Mango & Hibiscus, Size: 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have been on the hunt to find a more sustainable shampoo. I saw a lot of people recommend this brand and this shampoo specifically. I figured I would give it a shot. The product itself is very watery and you need to shake the box for every use. Also, I learned that in order to have the product work, I would need a lot of product! The packaging also starts to get a bit soggy while in the bathroom overtime. I love the smell of this shampoo and I love that it is working hard to be more sustainable, but this product, unfortunately, doesn't work well and I need to use too much to clean my scalp. I will still be looking for a product that is effective and sustainable. The hunt continues!

Works great on my daughter’s fine hair! Leaves it very soft and manageable. Also love that it does not come in a plastic bottle!

Worked well near the equator
Style: SPF 50
I bought this product because I was going to be in the field for a month, outside, every day, all day, in Tanzania at high altitude. A severe sunburn would be hard to treat in the remote area we were in, but also I am very careful about protecting my skin from aging. I had to have mineral based sunscreen because as a whitewater kayaker I know it’s the only truly water resistant kind and it was going to be sweaty. And since I knew I was going to be putting it on every day, and we didn’t have running water in the field (bucket showers only) I didn’t want it to feel gross. (I really wanted to try the spray but I didn’t want to put anything pressurized in my luggage.) And I had already discovered the Coola face sunscreen (30spf version) which had impressed me with how silky smooth and not greasy it is. Now this IS greasier because it is a higher SPF. BUT I think this product is as good as you’re going to get with the protection you’re getting. Like I said, I’m a white water tiger, so I have used a LOT of mineral sunscreens. This was hands down the most comfortable one I’ve used. And it was effective. I didn’t burn once—only time I did burn was when I forgot to put it on one day toward the end of the trip, when we were out for just a couple hours—and I got the first 2nd degree burn I’ve ever had in my life. That was what this stuff had protected me from, all day every day, the entire trip. I did tan a little but I think that was mostly from the few times I was not covered during short bouts or it was cloudy. For my face I used the Coola 50spf face product.
