An alluring Pinot Noir Rosé full of attitude, style and extravagance, with harmonious berry, pink grapefruit and stone fruit aromas. These juicy and luscious flavours provide mouth-watering acidity and lead into a refreshing yet spicy finish, with the sweet and savoury deftly balanced.

Bendigo is renowned for vibrant, dark fruit flavours and finely tuned acidity. Formed from glaciers grinding schist rocks to smaller gravels and finer particles, the soil is rich in minerals, free draining and perfect for growing exceptional Pinot Noir. Literally named after a miner’s original gold claim, the Claim 431 Vineyard in Bendigo sits firmly at the heart of New Zealand’s illustrious gold rush history.

The growing season in Bendigo was superb, with warm early summer conditions perfect for flowering and fruit set. The warm days and cool nights that Central Otago is renowned for worked their magic to ripen the fruit, which, at the time of harvest, was healthy and heaving with intense fruit flavours and delectable acidity. Once at the winery, the fruit was gently destemmed and pressed, with just enough skin contact to ensure that vivacious pink colour. This gorgeous, sassy number was bottled in July 2020.

Madam Sass lived her life with daring indulgence. She is our homage to heroines from Central Otago’s gold rush era; when gutsy women held little regard for the establishment and relished taking risks.
