Meet: Meet in the main village carpark post code YO22 5LX, at 08.00 for a 08.30 start.

On leaving the carpark we head off and follow the rail trail to Incline Cottage, the scene of a tragic accident in February 1864 killing 2 and injuring many more. From here we follow the path of the river to the highest waterfall within the National Park, the Mallyan Spout. We leave the valley basin via the steps which take us up to the Mallyan Spout Hotel.

From here we cut across Goathland Moor to the ancient burial mound at Two Howes, we then continue on to Simon Howe another prominent ancient burial ground situated on the classic Lyke Wake Walk route.

From the open moor we head off towards Cropton Forest and the northern edge of the Hole of Horcum. From here we head off towards Fylingdale Moor and the 17^th Century Malo Cross. Heading northwards across Fylingdale Moor we arrive at Lilla Cross, believed to date back to the 10^th century, Lilla Cross has been referred to by historians as the oldest Christian cross on the North York Moors.  From Lilla Cross we continue on the old drover’s route to Ann’s Cross and York Cross before making our way back across Goathland Moor, pass through the picturesque steam train station and into the Inn on the Moor for well-deserved refreshment.
