Buffalo’s Spaced announce No Escape, their debut EP on Pure Noise Records. The new release follows their 2024 full-length This Is All We Ever Get, which introduced the band’s distinct “far-out hardcore” sound to a wider audience and earned them recognition as one of the scene’s most promising new acts. With No Escape, Spaced sharpen their approach while continuing to push the boundaries of modern punk.
Sonically, as always, we stayed true to ourselves with our brand of “Far Out Hardcore.” Never straying too far from the music’s roots but always finding space to experiment and bring in new sounds. Hit some riffs, add some pedals, throw in some melody.
Whereas some of our previous stuff was heavily influenced by a lot of Boston hardcore—righteous jams, mental, lockin out records stuff—we found ourselves pulling a lot of inspiration from New York Hardcore. The rhythm and attitude of Madball and Biohazard, and some of the melody of Leeway. That 2-step groove is still there on this record, but this EP, we’re bringing the bounce. Songs built for the live show.
We recorded No Escape with Jay Zubricky at GCR Audio in Buffalo, NY.
Lexi Ryngoudt (Vocalist) – “Our new EP, ‘No Escape,’ is about feeling suffocated by our everyday lives. We grind and work our jobs while we’re home, and then grind some more out on the road. All of this is happening while the world feels like a daunting thundercloud over our heads. I wrote the lyrics of this album as an outlet to express my current feelings about what is going on. However, while I feel down about things like that, I still feel lucky to be surrounded by the hardcore community and people who will speak up with me.”
Donny Arthur (Guitarist) – “Hardcore will always react to what’s happening around us. It’s the perfect music for times like these. People are looking for an outlet…people are looking to find community and a positive way to let out aggression, and that’s what our music is for.”
