Cherry Audio 에서 Elka-X 라는 이름의 software synthesizr 를 발표하였습니다. 

이 소프트신스는 과거 알려졌던 Italian ELKA Synthex 의 신스 사운드를 복각한 가상악기 입니다.

 

Elka-X 의 인터페이스는 아래 그림과 같습니다. 

오리지널 Italian ELKA Synthex 의 뛰어난 캐릭터와 사운드를 복제하였으며 여러 기능을 세련되게 재현하였습니다.
Elka-X 는 하드웨어 신스에 있던 original chorus effect 도 그대로 재현하고 있으며 studio-quality echo 와 reverb stereo effect 도 추가하였습니다. dual-layer 구조로 2개의 Layer 를 만들어  각각 독립적인 세팅이 가능하여 chord memory, 600가지 이상의 pro patch, 그리고 flexible MIDI mapping 까지 가능한 편리함을 가지고 있습니다. 

오리지널 ELKA Synthex 는 이탈리아의 개발자 Mario Maggi 가 디자인하여 개발하여 1982년에 정식 출시 되었으며 1985년까지 organ / string synth 제조 업체였던 Elka 에서 생산을 하였습니다. 그래서 이름이 ELKA Synthex 가 되었습니다. 당시에는 Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, Oberheim OB-Xa 그리고 Roland Jupiter-8 와 같은 뛰어난 전설적인 아날로그 신디사이져들과 경쟁하여 시대를 풍미한 제품이었습니다.

매우 안정적으로 컨트롤되는 digitally-controlled analog oscillator와 다양한 활용이 가능한 flexible four-pole multimode filter 의 탑재가 특징인 신스 입니다. 아날로그로 컨트롤될때 불안정함을 예견하여 미리 디지틀로 컨트롤되는 아날로그 오실레이터 구조를 착안한 것이 혁신이었습니다. 그리고 당시에는 생각할 수 없었던 미래적인 기능을 넣어서 혁신을 만들어낸 신스 입니다. 아날로그 신스지만 single 8-voice synth 사용하거나 dual-layer 방식로 최대 16 polyphonical multitimbral 을 지원하였으며 혁신적인 4-track sequencer 도 자체 탑재한 제품입니다. 

정리하면 dual DCO oscillator 구성 (dual-layer 방식으로 최대 16 polyphony) , multimode filter, VCA and filter envelopes, Chorus 그리고 수많은 button 과 knob 을 활용한 편리한 programming 등이 이 신스의 특성이었습니다.

 

이 ELKA Synthex 의 사용자들은 Stevie Wonder, 그룹 Asia 의 Geoff Downes, Keith Emerson,Duran Duran의 Nick Rhodes, 그리고 전자음악의 전설 Jean-Michel Jarre 등과 같은 거물급 뮤지션들이었습니다.

Better than you imagined...
I bought a 4'x6' from Safavieh 10 years ago and just received its replacement. I've slept on it every night and meditated on it every day. In short, I love it. It's the most comfortable surface I can imagine. Here's what you need to know. A sheepskin is just that, animal pelt(s). The 4x6 is four pelts sewn together. It will have a sheepskin smell, which will reduce over time. When it comes, it is rolled up and in a heavy clear poly sleeve, Open the end, not the side! This way if you need to return it, you can roll and slide it right back into the shipping sleeve. The dimensions you buy are approximate. It's a naturally variable product. You might prefer a medical sheepskin if you live in a hot climate. The fur on these is altered to make the hairs shorter. I think I will cover it with a bottom sheet from now on. It might last 20 years that way.

I went downstairs to pick up the package from our building management office. I could smell it already. The rug was rolled up in clear plastic with one end exposed/open.
