To fabricate the grab bar, type-304, 18-gauge stainless steel tubing that is 1-1/4 inches in diameter is used. The model measures 30 inches in length and can be coordinated with grab bars of other lengths. A satin finish is used to complete the grab bar and makes fingerprints and smudges less visible, so that the polishing and buffing of the bar can be done less often. The grab bar is welded to two mounting flanges, which are used to attach the piece to the wall. When the clearance between the bar and the wall is 1-1/2 inches, the bar can support up to 900 pounds of weight. To conceal the mounting screws, covers snap down over the mounting flanges.
