This is a preprinted piece of white cotton for making a sashiko handkerchief with Ajisai (Hydrangea) design. There are three layers of fabric. The top and bottom layers are a gauzy cotton, and the middle layer has a metallic element that helps prevent mold and odors.

INCLUDED in this kit: cloth, needle, and embroidery floss in lavender and periwinkle.

Cut the floss at a 1 meter lengths and split into single threads. Stitch the design as shown in the included instructions, then fold and stitch it together to make a hand cloth. Wash the cloth to remove the markings.

It's very common to carry a soft handkerchief in Japan as the climate can range from rain to snow to hot and humid, so it's practical to have something handy for wiping your hands or face.
The fabric measures approximately 7.75" x 7.75" (20 cm x 20 cm) when completed. Important: Please read care instructions before starting the project.
