Why a Single-Port Raptor 700 Thrives on a Dual Exhaust System

Because Barker’s Exhaust was born on the Raptor platform, we knew the 2015+ single-port Raptor 700 deserved serious testing. What started as an experiment—building duals for a single-port head—quickly turned into a surprise. After hundreds of dyno pulls, multiple intake configurations, and extensive tuning, one thing became clear: the Raptor 700 truly loves a properly engineered dual exhaust system. The results weren’t just visible on the dyno—they were undeniable on the trail, track, and dunes.

FEATURES:

The Full Story: Why Barker’s Duals Work on the Raptor 700

Barker’s Exhaust began with the Raptor, so when Yamaha introduced the 2015 model with a single exhaust port, we knew we had to put it to the test—hard. There was plenty of pressure to deliver a set of “Barker’s Duals,” but to be honest, expectations were low. A 1-into-2 dual setup on a single-port head sounded like something that might look cool, but surely wouldn’t outperform a properly tuned single system.

We were wrong.

Early testing involved quick dyno pulls across several dual configurations, and the results shocked us. Not only did the Raptor respond positively, it consistently showed that—even with a single exhaust port—the engine thrived on a well-designed dual system. That initial surprise turned into months of relentless testing.

After hundreds of dyno pulls across multiple raptors and multiple tuners, the data became undeniable.

Stock Intake & AFR Testing

We started with a completely stock setup—stock airbox, stock intake lid—to understand how the dual exhaust affected air-fuel ratios. What we found was expected but critical:

  • The engine leaned out at idle

  • Several lean spots appeared throughout the RPM range

Because of this, we do not recommend running the Barker’s Dual system without a fuel controller. Additional fuel is required for the engine to run correctly and safely.

Intake Lid Removal: Where Things Get Serious

Next, we removed the airbox lid to increase airflow—and that’s when the Raptor really woke up. Removing the lid drastically changes how the engine breathes and requires significant fueling adjustments to maintain the proper Air Fuel Ratio. Once tuned correctly, the gains were immediate and measurable.

With proper tuning, we consistently picked up an additional 2–3 horsepower simply by removing the lid.

Important Note:
Do NOT remove your intake lid without tuning. Intake modifications affect AFR more than an exhaust system and can cause engine damage if left unchecked. Barker’s offers fuel maps and controllers designed specifically for lid-off setups, or for flow-through options like the EHS Racing intake lid.

Real-World Power Where It Matters

What makes the Barker’s Dual system special isn’t just peak horsepower—it’s where the power shows up.

  • Peak gains range from 3–8 horsepower, depending on intake setup

  • Lower-end torque increases as much as 10 ft-lbs

  • High-RPM gains exceed 10+ horsepower when paired with the FCI intake

Ironically, peak numbers were often the smallest gains on the curve. The real magic happened in the low and mid-range, where the Raptor pulls harder, lugs out of corners stronger, and keeps charging through every gear.

This is one of those setups where the seat-of-the-pants dyno doesn’t lie. The power is immediate, aggressive, and impossible to miss—and yes, you’ll be leaving your buddies in the dust.

Proven, Not Assumed

We’ve posted multiple dyno runs showing real configurations—from duals tuned on their own to fully tuned setups with fuel controllers and upgraded intakes. No guessing. No theory. Just results.

Barker's Dual Exhaust VS. Stock Exhaust (Stock Airbox)

The 2015+ Raptor 700 is already a monster: fuel-injected, 686cc, quick-revving, and brutally responsive. Our Full Dual Exhaust System simply unlocks more of what’s already there—more torque, more horsepower, and a broader, harder-hitting powerband.

Sound That Matches the Power

Thanks to Barker’s signature 1-head pipe into dual can design, exhaust flow is balanced and sound is dispersed evenly through both mufflers. The result is the deep, husky Barker’s tone that riders love.

Well-Made Toy That My Dog Loves, Great Quality and Fun
Color: Alligator(Green), Color: Alligator(Green)
This dog toy has been a great addition to our pup’s collection. It’s well made and feels like solid quality that will stand up to regular play, which is exactly what you want rather than something that falls apart after a few uses. My Havanese absolutely loves it. The size is just right for small to medium-sized dogs, and we’ve had a lot of fun with tug-of-war and gentle fetch sessions. The texture and feel give her something satisfying to bite and carry around. Pros: Well made and durable, feels like it will last through many play sessions. Great size for small to medium dogs like my Havanese. Encourages play and interaction, perfect for tug-of-war and light fetch. Nice value for the quality and price. Easy to grip for both dog and human hands. Cons: Not ideal for extreme chewers; if your dog loves to destroy toys quickly, you might need a super-heavy-duty option. A bit simple in design, no squeaker, but that’s just personal preference. Overall, this is a solid, fun toy that delivers on quality and performance, and my dog genuinely enjoys it. Highly recommend. Still gets 5 stars!

Great activity
Pattern Name: Dog
Works great. My male in wall lost interest since she could not win so I just need to rig it so that she wins every once in a while other than that it is great.

A good idea while it lasted.
Pattern Name: Dog
This toy was a great idea! I thought my Borador (1/2 Lab-1/2 Border Collie) that's constantly full of energy would love it. Unfortunately, he didn't want to play with it at all. Who knows. So I returned it and ordered a herding ball instead.
