With her high fitted waist, front pleats, and tapered legs, she brings just the right amount of volume and structure. You can sew Paula with or without side seam pockets — add welt pockets on the back for a tailored twist. The shorts version makes her an all-season essential. No zipper fly required, the side invisible zipper keeps things sleek and easy to sew. 

Paula has a high-rise waist with a shaped waistband for a perfect fit. She’s designed to be very roomy around the hips thanks to front pleats and tapers towards the ankle, with an extra dart at the hem to highlight her unique balloon shape. The waistband is non-stretch and closes with an invisible side zipper.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:

Paula works best in fabrics that have the perfect balance between structure and drape. Think thin jacquard, gabardine, seersucker, lyocell denim, heavier viscose or cupro twill. With structured fabrics that do not drape, the pleats will stand out more, creating a slightly poofier silhouette, which is totally fine if you like that look. Fabrics that drape will fall more closely to the leg.

Want to try Paula in a knit fabric like French terry? That’s possible too! Just be sure to stabilise the waistband and the seams around the zip sufficiently to remove all stretch from the fabric in those areas.
