Citrus x latifolia ‘Bearss Lime’, commonly known as the Tahiti Lime, is a highly productive, seedless lime variety loved for its juicy, aromatic fruit and glossy evergreen foliage. In Cape Town, it flowers mainly from spring to early summer, with fruit ripening through late summer into autumn, often producing a second light crop in warm conditions.
Perfect for edible gardens, pots, small orchards, or sunny patios, this lime thrives in full sun and well‑drained soil. Its lush growth and fragrant blossoms also make it a wonderful ornamental feature. A must-have for gardeners who enjoy cooking, cocktails, or fresh homegrown citrus.

Plant & Care
Plant your Tahiti Lime in full sun with free‑draining soil and regular deep watering during hot, dry spells. Feed with a balanced citrus fertiliser in spring and midsummer to support flowering and fruiting. Prune lightly after harvest to shape and remove crossing or weak branches. Mulch well to retain moisture, especially through Cape Town’s dry summers. Protect young trees from frost and strong southeaster winds.
Did You Know?
Despite being called a lime, the Tahiti Lime is actually a hybrid between lemon and a key lime, bred for its seedlessness and superior juiciness, making it the world’s most popular lime variety for commercial and home use.
